This insurance company is attempting to retroactively collect $2.1K from me for my business' general liability policy coverage from 2022-2023 based on a false report they generated from an audit they did where they falsely state my business grew 30% and that my payroll was $10,000 more than the $20,000 estimate noted on my renewal application. When I disputed the bill and sent them proof (biz bank **************** for the audit period) that I had no employees/payroll (I am a single member LLC with no employees because I do all the work myself and do not take a formal salary, and the business is treated as a Schedule C so any end of year profit is my take home pay), my sales not only drastically declined that term due to financial hardship (ie covid/economic slump and not getting paid for certain projects), but that the $10,000 "salaried employee/welder" they logged in their report, was incorrectly categorized as such, was actually a 1099 independent contractor for transportation/delivery services, they sent the account to collections. Despite my financial hardship I paid them $4.3K in full upon renewing my ins. policy, so this feels like extortion.

By far, the worst insurance company I have ever had. We had them provide insurance for our small nonprofit foundation for a whopping 5.5 months. We insured our headquarters, a 1950s two story house that had been a residence until we acquired the building. First, they scheduled an inspection and then missed the appointment. Then, when they finally decided to reschedule, they tried to say it was our fault that the inspection hadn't occurred. Okay. While it irritated me, I figured they just got it wrong. We'll move on. The inspector, a young lady who appeared to be a high school student based on her school uniform shirt, arrived thirty minutes early and started the inspection without us. The report came back that we needed to trim tree branches that were hanging over the house. They weren't. I sent pictures. They relented. The point of contention came over a ventilation space that allows the underside of the house to dry. This 70 year old house in ********* is built on cement piers, not a concrete slab. Atlantic Casualty insisted that I close these "holes" because "it could cause damage to the foundation". I sent pictures of the space covered with the decorative vent cover that is designed for that space. No, they replied. It has to be sealed. I finally called them to ask if they were imbeciles. They didn't care for that and, shortly after, they cancelled the policy for "non-compliance". They're right. I won't comply with a ridiculous demand to close up a hole that was intentionally placed there by the builders to allow ventilation and prevent the wooden floors from rotting. Do whatever you can to avoid this company.
