Advertising Review

BBB promotes truth in advertising by contacting advertisers whose claims conflict with the BBB Code of Advertising. These claims may come to our attention from our internal review of advertising, consumer complaints and competitor challenges. BBB asks advertisers to prove their claims, change ads to make offers clearer to consumers, and remove misleading or deceptive statements.

On January 14, 2022, Better Business Bureau of Central and Northwest NC contacted the business requesting the business substantiate, modify or discontinue claims on the company’s website, https://aviatorfarms.com/, and social media, https://www.facebook.com/Aviatorfarms and https://www.instagram.com/aviatorfarms/. The company advertises many health benefit claims including:

o One cannabis-based substance that many states regard as legal, Delta-8-THC, offers potent benefits without the psychotropic impact of stronger substances.
o WHAT HEALTH BENEFITS CAN DELTA-8-THC OFFER?
o Delta-8-THC has demonstrated considerable potential for managing a wide range of symptoms and health conditions.
o Researchers have observed its ability to boost appetite and relieve pain.
o A study of children undergoing chemotherapy also indicated that it can help prevent or reduce the vomiting that often accompanies this kind of treatment.
o Delta-8-THC might even have the ability to fight cancer directly. In studies, it has inhibited the growth of cancer cells, placing it alongside delta-9-THC as a potentially useful future treatment option.
o Other research hints the delta-8-THC may have a future as an Alzheimer's disease treatment because it optimizes the brain's supply of an essential neurotransmitter called acetylcholine. It may also reduce feelings of anxiety and depression without impairing alertness or mental focus.
How Hemp Extract Can Help People With Neuropathic Pain. Hemp and Neuropathic Pain,
o How CBD Can Help People With Neuropathic Pain
o If you are looking for a way to manage your pain, you may want to try cannabidiol (CBD).
o One study showed that CBD was able to suppress neuropathic pain since it affected glycine receptors. Glycine receptors are a type of channel that mediate the passage of neurotransmitters. Neurotransmitters are the chemical messengers that can transmit signals to and from nerve cells.
o Since glycine receptors are mainly involved in pain perception, the fact that CBD can target and suppress these receptors could be enough to control your symptoms.
o What Are Some Advantages of CBD Over Other Pain Relievers?
o While the obvious advantage of CBD is that it may relieve your neuropathic pain, CBD has additional advantages compared to other analgesics.
o It's Not Addictive
o Because neuropathic pain can be chronic, one problem people may face is addiction to opioids or other strong pain-relief medication. However, because CBD doesn't contain THC, you shouldn't experience a high or be prone to addiction. In fact, one study showed that people who took CBD were able to curb withdrawals and anxiety when they were trying to come off of a drug addiction.
o Thankfully, CBD not only relieves neuropathic pain, but inflammatory pain as well.
o If your neuropathic pain has caused you immense stress, CBD may be able to help you manage stress-related behavior, such as insomnia or anxiety.
o Compounds in hemp can help control COVID-19 spread, researchers say
o Reduced seizure activity in dogs
o Did you know CBD can help with lots of common conditions including chronic pain, inflammation, anxiety, insomnia, focus and much more.

The BBB Code of Advertising states that, “The primary responsibility for truthful and non-deceptive advertising rests with the advertiser. Advertisers should be prepared to substantiate any claims or offers made before publication or broadcast and, upon request, present such substantiation promptly to the advertising medium or the Better Business Bureau.”

The BBB Code of Advertising also states, “Claims relating to performance, energy savings, safety, efficacy or results for a product or service should be based on recent and competent testing or other objective data.”

As of February 17, 2022, BBB has not received a response from the business. The business has failed to substantiate, modify, or discontinue any of the advertised claims brought to its attention.
