The transaction/ work was done on 8/18 to remove mold spores from stairway carpet beside a closet we found on 7/18 had a water leak. The carpet was tested by EMSL and on 8/4 found to have actual fungal growth. On 8/11 we received an invoice for the work to be performed on 8/18 to kill the mold on the carpet. On 8/21 his nephew arrived at 9:30am and spent 90 minutes spraying/ vacuuming 7 steps, a 4' x 4' landing, and an additional 7 steps. I questioned the $800 for 90 minutes of work and was told by Neal that I don't pay for time, I pay for his expertise and training as a mold expert. His nephew did not complete any professional training, he was taught by Neal. Within a week I noticed there was a sticky residue on all of the carpet. I phoned Neal on 8/25 to let him know of the issue and that I began to have a sore throat and cough that week and believed it was the residue of the chemicals and dirt in the carpet causing allergic symptoms. His response, that his nephew did not stay long enough to dry out the carpet and he would send him back on 8/28 to vacuum the carpet again. When they returned today I asked the name of the chemical and contacted the manufacturer when I saw on the label that the first step in the process was to wash the carpet with detergent. The MFR said Neals process was totally ineffective and against a Federal law that requires the directions on the label must be followed and begin with cleaning the surface with detergent prior to treatment. Mr M****r said the only way to resolve it now is to hire a carpet cleaner to pre spray the carpet with an Alkaline cleaner, then rinse with an Acid product and reapply the treatment. My carpet is ruined, we have done nothing to mitigate the mold spores in the carpet and my health is at risk. Neal sat in on the conversation with the trainer at ****** ****** but insists his process was as he was trained, there was no need to wash with detergent first and by vacuuming again today the issue is resolved.
