I contacted Impex because there was a car they were selling online I was looking for. I was working with a sales person over the phone and text. The car was listed at $9900 and I was willing to buy the car at full price. This was all on a Tuesday 5/10/2022. I sent a deposit $500.00 to them to hold the car for pickup on Saturday 5/14. I was communicating with them over text and sent them a copy of my License and copy of insurance on the car since I was picking it up on Saturday morning when they opened. I was purchasing the car with $7000. cashers check and paying the remaining in cash. I contacted them them over text to ask them what additional fees would be charged since I wanted to know how much cash I would need. I had calculated I would need an additional $650 to cover the cost of sales tax, VA title, plate and registration fees. I was told over text that since I was paying cash I would not get charged these fees but I would receive the title and would have to register and title it myself. So I show up at 9:00 expecting to pick up the car and the balance due. So after waiting around for all the paperwork to be finished and to pay for the car I am finally sat down in a room with the "money guy" who collects the remaining balance. To my surprise he initially wanted an extra $1500. Then he said he forgot that I had put down a $500 deposit. Then he recalculated and said I still needed $1000 more. I was surprised by the extra cost and had to charge a portion of it. I was told that additional fees was documentation fees for the temporary registration and I had assumed the Virginia fees since the documentation fee was $799. Two weeks later I receive the final paperwork and copy of the signed title. So the $799 did not include the Virginia Reg and fees and $199 was a Theft fee? I contacted them to get a portion returned but they have yet to answer my texts or emails.

The fees we charge are clearly stated on the Bill of sale, Contract, and pre contract.  These are our standard fees.  Fees vary from state to state and dealer to dealer.  These fees are non-negotiable.

I saw an advertising online for a 2007 Honda Accord Coupe for $9700 from Impex Auto sales. The description says that there were no dents, scratches, or repainting done on the vehicle. The pictures posted online seemed to support this. I called them to speak with them about the vehicle. They told me that I needed to put $500 down on the car to hold it until I could travel from Goldsboro NC where I reside to Greensboro NC to purchase it. I made a $500 payment to hold the vehicle online on May 11, 2022. Please see attachment. I went to Impex Auto on the morning of May 16, 2022. I inspected the vehicle. There were dents and scratches on the vehicle. The vehicle had also been repainted in certain areas. I have been an auto body technician for over 10 years. I can easily tell that the condition of the vehicle was misrepresented. The tires on the vehicle were dry rotted. The offered to take off $300 from the sales price, and give me 3 new tires. This was unsatisfactory. I requested my deposit back after trying to discuss the issues with them for over an hour. They refused and kept trying to get me to buy the car. They finally said that the $500 deposit was non refundable even though there was no indication of this when I paid it. I even called them after leaving...and they said they'd call back about deposit. I never got a callback. I was taken advantage of, and I want a refund of my deposit.

      Business response

      05/20/2022

Our deposits are non refundable...When the deposit link is sent it has very clear language.  Click here to pay your Non-refundable $500.00 deposit on stock number ______.  Not only do we send with this message, we have the phone call recorded where he was told it is non-refundable.  We removed the car from our national listings, website, local listings to hold the car.  We now have to republish with all of those vendors, which is why it is non-refundable.  This is a very competitive market and he was told this would be non-refundable.  As always, we allow for the deposit to be moved to another vehicle, he refused.

      Customer response

      05/22/2022

I am rejecting this response because: I did NOT see anything about a NON-refundable deposit. Why was I instructed to make a deposit in the first place? I called about the car and was persuaded to make a deposit. It may be in plain language on the website, but for someone with a learning disability like myself, it is NOT. If it was explained to me prior to making a deposit, I would NOT have paid. I feel as though you took advantage of my lack of understanding and that is unacceptable. You talked me into making a deposit, and then misrepresented the condition of the car to me. I wasted 5 hours out of my day and driving to Greensboro. These are unacceptable business practices to me. I request my deposit back.

On February 9th, I purchased a vehicle from Impex auto Sales in Greensboro, NC. The salesman, Sammy, was helpful enough. I paid over $32,000 for a 2017 Ford F-150, complete with a "bumper to bumper" warranty that was upsold to me. I purchased the vehicle in late afternoon/evening. As I started to make my drive home, I did not even get 50 miles away from the dealership, when the "check engine" light came on. At this time, the dealership was closed. The morning of February 10th I called Impex Auto and Zarina, the lady who had set up the orginal appointment with me, connected me to the manager, Derek. I told Derek what had happened, and he said they want to resolve it, but if I "just wait a few days, the warranty will kick in and definitely cover it!" So, I did just that. I waited until my local Ford Dealership could get me in (March 28), with the assumption that the warranty would cover it. However, the warranty did not. The issue is the Catalytic Converter, and the cost to repair is $1,500. I just paid $32,000 + $2,000 for a truck and a "bumper to bumper" warranty, only for a manager to dodge my calls and act like his dealership did not sell me a faulty vehicle/know about this issue. The business DID offer their "solution" via the manager Dylan (Because Derek has never called back). They wanted me to take the truck to "their guy", over an hour away from me, and pay $1,000 to have him fix it, and they would "cover the remaining $300". This solution is unacceptable, therefore I denied it. I fully expect Impex auto to fulfill the duties of a reputable dealership and take responsibility for their actions in selling me a truck with this issue, advising me to wait on a warranty that left me hanging, and continuously ignoring this problem to let it get to this point. Taking responsibility means not only owning up to their mistakes, but covering the costs of the repair that will be performed by a mechanic of my choosing.

I spoke with *****.  We will be sending him a check for 1300 to fix the catalytic converter.

On 1/4/22 I purchased a 50,000 dollar car with 8300 down on 1/16/22 the car couldn’t drive any longer. I returned the car to dealer and received a loaner car. On 3/6/22 I received the car back and the transmission had been replaced. On 3/18/22 the engine light was back on I returned to dealer they checked the car and said they would turn light off they found no issues. On 3/30 the light was back on I returned to dealer and was given a loaner car a week later I was told no issues can be found and I could pick my car back up. On 4/16 the engine light is back on and the dealer is telling me it’s my issue at this point there is anything they can do

We are very sorry that you are having issues with your purchase.  The Vehicle is a high performance sports car with Modifications.  The intermittent check engine light was checked and can only be related to those modifications.  We have offered a trade or to sell us the vehicle back at fair market value.  We have over 1500 vehicles right now to choose from.  At this point, the only option would be to trade, or sell vehicle back.

      Respectfully,

I am rejecting this response because:
I didn’t make any modifications to this vehicle besides the license tag. The car was sold with the modifications already attached therefore I don’t feel I should be responsible for anything at this point I have literally only been able to drive the car a little more than a month since I had it

I am trying to obtain refund on my GAP insurance from my car being paid off early. I have reached out to business multiple times and was given the run around. I was finally advised to complete on their website and refund would be processed in few weeks. I did this and on month later still nothing. I called again and was advised that I had to come to their location. I did this on Saturday 3.5.22 and was told someone would call me Monday still nothing. I messaged the person that I talked to Saturday on 3.9.22 with no response. Still today no contact and I feel like I am just being given the run around.

I purchased a 2015 F-250 from Impex Auto on 1/28/2022. I have requested that my address be corrected on my extended warranty and my gap insurance. They have not followed up about that. With this purchase they signed a "we owe you" with 5 detailed items that were supposed to be done and fixed within 30 days. They have not completed any of these requirements. They sold me a truck that was advertised with navigation, The truck is missing the navigation card, They knew this from the day of purchase and promised they were ordering one for my truck. This truck is out of align, it was communicated through text and in the "we owe you" that this would be resolved. Now almost 30 days later the tread on the brand new tires is very worn. only put about 1000 miles on it. Dylan one of the sales managers was very rude to my husband and me. Jason T*** who is the finance manager we dealt with has appeared to try and help us. However nothing has been resolved. The truck broke down 4 days after we purchased it. Jason stated they would reimburse us for the invoice to repair the truck, we have not received anything, we keep getting told it's being sent. We had another mechanic inspect it on a machine and it has not been aligned. They did not clean it. When we purchased this truck on 1/28/2022 a Friday, there was still salt and brine on the roads and they said when we brought it back to have the "we owe you" things resolved they would clean it then. We took the truck back to Impex Auto on 1/30/22 and left it overnight and the following day until 7:30 pm, under the impression that the "we owe you" items were going to be executed and fixed. The brakes also were squealing from the time of purchase. The very nice Salesman JB was advocating for our concerns and promises to be resolved. If you look at the google reviews the recent ones you will see many customers being misled by this "we owe you" as it is only good for 30 days. Then it implies they are not responsible after 30 days.

I purchased a car from Impex auto in September 23rd 2021. I contacted the DMV by day 30 of no tag. DMV informed me that Impex auto had not submitted any title paper work. I immediately called impex and asked to speak to a manager. I was told by a gentleman named chris he wasnt manager but like one. I explained it had been 30 days and no title had been submitted to the DMV and he informed me it was because covid. I said no, i went in and spoke to a rep at the DMV. She said DMV didnt have a title. It should be a few weeks. So, i get pulled over for two month dead tags. So, i had to call and get tags sent. EVERY thirty days, FOUR months and Impex has yet to be able to provide me a title for this vehicle. My insurance contacted me and said vin and title do not match. I have not heard from the business in response to my complaint. My vehicle is still not registered after purchasing on 8/27/2021, because their Impex employee Haley M*****, messed up the paperwork while purchasing my wifes vehicle. I am still being required to pay an additional $3000.00 on top of what has already been taken from my account. I am out of thousands of dollars and I dont think its fair. If I owed anything I wouldn't have been able to drive off the lot with the car.

The approval that we were able to get for ****** required a $7000 down payment.  ****** came and payed her balance yesterday.  Nothing else owed by either party.
