My company had an awful experience with the Hatteras Hammocks Company and do not advise using them to accommodate your Hammock needs. We received a quote in 11/18/2019 for some hammock stands for a commercial project, we accepted their quote and issued a purchase order for the quoted amount 5/7/21. Hatteras acknowledged and accepted the purchase order, we informed them of the projected delivery date and we were advised this wouldn't be an issue. Come delivery we needed to pay 100% up front so we issued a check for the quote and purchase order amount. Days later we received an invoice requesting 50% more, stating that there was a price increase that was implemented two months before. Hatteras Hammocks did not honor the quoted and purchase order amount and never once did Hatteras Hammocks reach out to alert us there was a cost increase giving us the opportunity to seek additional funds from the owner of the project. NOT until they received a check for the agreed upon amount did they mention the cost has increased 50%. Customer service was LESS THAN useless stating that quotes are only good for 30 days and not addressing the accepted purchase order or any past correspondence. I have been in the construction industry for 30 years and this is by far the worst company I have ever dealt with, I would try to avoid at all costs.

Our goal at Hatteras Hammocks is to provide our customers with the most accurate information, included but not limited to pricing, inventory levels, and lead times. Due to the surging prices of raw materials, transportation backups, and pandemic lockdowns caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, we made the conscious decision to include an expiration date to all quotes and invoices provided to our customers.

On Nov 18, 2019, we received the first quote email request from your company. On Sept. 3, 2020, Project Engineer ******* followed up to confirm the prices and the lead times of the products. The next correspondence with the Project Engineer dates as May 6, 2021, and the provided expected delivery date is Mid to Late June 2021. Unfortunately, the Invoice issued in May 2021 had expired when the payment check was delivered on Sept. 28, 2021. The price for the items on the Invoice had changed and the increase was communicated to the Project Engineer ************, who received and approved the new Pro-Forma Invoice with a balance due.

The issue, as I already mentioned, was that a cost increase was conveyed roughly 5 months after we provided a purchase order. If there was a change in pricing in June, like you say. We should have been alerted that our purchase order needs to be adjusted. This would have given us the opportunity to seek additional costs from the owner of the project. However, since ***** Hammocks did not communicate any cost impact until we provided the check for the material, we were left 50% over budget with no opportunity to seek additional funds. Completely understanding the issues with COVID, global supply chain issues etc.. every other material supplier has been upfront with making sure to let their customers know of any delays or cost impacts. ***** Hammocks failed at this and to me displays the lack of value they actual have in their customers. This is why I stand by my comments that this company was the worst company I have dealt with and that customer service was less than useless. I would avoid at all costs.
