We contracted with ***************** who purports to be the owner of the construction and design company, on April 15, 2024. He was to resurface our decks with premium kiln dried lumber, install new posts with PVC sleeves, and install a cable rail system he was to purchase from a company called Cable Bullet. His contract was to provide all materials and labor and to perform in a workmanlike manner. We gave him $10,000 on contract which was stated to be for materials.Initial estimate from **** was that Job would take 3-4 weeks. More work and materials were added when some rotten joists were discovered and we decided to have a hot tub placed on top of one of the decks requiring columns, piers, and a girder to support the weight of the hot tub. We discussed the changes and entered a verbal change order in the amount of $2650 for additional materials and labor.Beginning in the latter part of May, and continuing until he left for good in late July, work became very sporadic, and many days no one showed up to work even when weather was good. The **** was that one guy would show up at 11-ish am and work for 3 hours or so, when anyone showed up at all. The work literaly crawled.**** told us that he underbid the labor couldn't afford to pay his crew, and we foolishly began purchasing materials he was obligated to provide. The we learned that although he said the Cable Bullet system would cost 5700, he now told us that it would be double that. Per his contract he was to purchase 5700 worth of Cable Bullet, which he never did. when he last worked here on a Friday in July, he packed up all of his equipment and left (which we dicovered on the following Saturday morning). Then he sent us an invoice for an additional $3300 saying it was for "extras" never discussed or approved by us.We have incomplete stairs, a nasty pile of debris, loose, missing posts, no rails or cable rail system. It's a mess. Most will have to be re-done. There's more but this was all the space afforded .Customer response

I recommended Ryan to my 77 yo mother because she had ac issues at her home. He came out & recommended a new unit with a deposit of $1905.49 for the unit and the labor chargers to be paid upon completion of the work. She paid him the deposit on 6/30/23 & he was scheduled to install the unit on 7/5/23 830-9am. My mother wait all day. He did not show or call. She & I called him, texted him, FB messaged him. We did not reach him. Today, 7/6, we have still not heard from him. We are requesting the entire deposit to be returned. Also his address is in ****** ***** ** instead of *** ****r.Business response

We did agree ORIGINALLY to do the service on Saturday July 1st. Payment was supposed to be made by cashier check on 6/30. Then it was changed to a credit card. At which time I told her that it would take longer for deposit to clear. We then RESCHEDULED for Wednesday the 5th. On the 4th my phone and ALL communications were lost due to a phone malfunction. I IMMEDIATELY contacted Bettye...(the 77yo mother mentioned in *****'s complaint)....and made her aware of the problem and told her I was about 20 min away from her house and was coming to install the unit. That was on 7/6. One Day after service was to be performed. The unit was already purchased and as ***** has done business with me before my deposit is non refundable. Much time and energy goes into sourcing materials and parts plus the man power to pick up as well as gas and wear and tear on company vehicles. All within a holiday weekend no less... I was happy to have done the work but if you cancel while I'm on my way to your house with already paid for material the deposit is non refundable. Thank you for making me aware of this complaint. I am rejecting this response because:
He was a no call-no show on Wednesday the day he stated he would do the work.
We waited until the next morning after he promised to be there before taking any action. He called after 12pm noon saying I’m 20 mins away.
He did not keep his word and show up as promised & as scheduled. .
