On 12/12/22 I contacted Great Western Of Hickory about a 2021 ***** Talon off road vehicle they had for sale. I found it on a national site but there was not any information on the car other than a few pictures. I asked the salesperson ********* very specific questions about the car including condition and any issues that I should know about. I was told that the car was in great shape with no issues. I drove over 300 miles one way on 12/14/22 with a trailer in tow to purchase the car based on her description and assurances. As soon as I started my inspection of the car I found significant damage to the rollover structure. I was told the previous owner had rolled the car onto it's side. An approximately 12 inch long section of the structure had been crushed to half its original diameter which renders the cage unsafe for use under any circumstances. There is also a possibility that the frame where the structure is attached could also be damage but that would require more extensive inspection that I could not do at that time. The manager said it was only my opinion that is was unsafe and he still felt it was in great shape. I am a retired ASE Master technician and instructor, a ***** Master technician and also have 45 years of racing experience including roll structure fabrication and inspection. It is my professional opinion that the cage is unsafe and the car should not be sold unless the cage is replaced. I spent close to $200 in gas along with a full day of driving because I was lied to by this company. They are not doing business in a manner that is fair or in the best interest of consumers. If someone without my background purchases this car in the condition I observed and has an accident the cage would fail and could crush the occupants. Thank you for your time.
