    On May 25, 2023 I placed an order with Greenhouse/**** ********* *******. I ordered 20 yards of a fabric called ***** Surf. I was charged $980 plus $44.45 in shipping. This is listed as an upholstery grade fabric. On October 30, 2023 my employee started upholstering a sofa with this fabric. On November 2nd my employee noticed the fabric was failing on a section of sewn seam. We then noticed failures happening in other areas as well. At this point I told the employee to stop working with the sofa and fabric. We contacted Greenhouse/**** ********* ******* regarding this issue and was told our only option was to send the roll of fabric to the manufacturer to have testing done and that this would take months to be completed. This is not an option as we have our client expecting their furniture back in a timely fashion. I would like Greenhouse/**** ********* ******* to refund my money ($1024.45) and pay the labor ($960) that has been spent on the sofa, as at this point all the work that has been done now needs to be removed and redone with another fabric. I can send photos, if needed. My files are too large to attach to this directly.

    Greenhouse fabric sold us an upholstery fabric that was rated high durability. Our guys reuphostered a lady's sofa. It didn't even hold up 2 months. Fabric was pulling apart. They would not stand behind their product. Let me also mention Greenhouse fabrics is 30% higher than other companies if you cross reference with Carole, Mitchell, Kasmir, and Norbar. Very disappointed in Greenhouse Fabrics.

    Complaint by: GH Customer ******, Window Van Go 9101 Fifth Avenue, Pittsburgh PA 15232 ***** ********* re: 21 yards of F4122 @ 34.00 yards purchased on 3/28/2022, invoice ******, SM Doug We sell fabric into the upholstery and interior design trade. There are certain standards put into place on how to sew certain type of fabric for certain projects, i.e. upholstery. The complaint I received was due to seam slippage on a cushion with less than .25" less seam allowance. I have photos of the pieces that were sent to me for evaluation I would be happy to send. Per the fabric converter their product passed the required testing (ATSM D4034, 92 “Standard Test Method for Resistance to Yarn Slippage at the Sewn Seam in Woven Upholstery Fabrics”). I've been told in our industry that it's recommended to have to have 5/8-1/2" seam allowance on upholstery fabrics; the vendor tested their seam at 5/8". I will not offer any compensation toward labor as there was no failure in the fabric, which I outlined in a letter to the customer along with a copy of the testing and results for the pattern in question. They asked my sales person for our vendor information, which we do not provide to any customer. Since we declined to provide our vendor info the customer indicated on a recorded call that they would post negatively Greenhouse Fabrics. We always try to resolve issues so we offered a 30% discount on replacement fabric; they declined. In a gesture of good faith, I will send the upholsterer up to 1.5 yards per seat cushion at no charge towards replacing the current cushion casings as long as they do 5/8-1/2" seams, please note this is an estimate and we would need a photo of the piece to get accurate yardage estimate as we do not know the overall size of sofa or # of cushions. Or, the offer of 30% discount also stands if a new fabric is preferred. If they are agreeable to either of these offer then I assume the BBB complaint will be closed and I would hope they remove or delete all derogatory social media post(s) and negative review(s) that my sales team have made me aware of. If they choose to accept, they are to call Heidi at 336-410-0258. Either way, I feel we have met our obligation and proven we attempted resolution. I would like to request that the BBB complaint to be immediately closed.
