I purchased a ********* sofa from ***** **** that was made by Northridge Home on a membership I had for my business I've not had the membership for a couple of years due to the pandemic. I can't remember the exact date, it was at the end of 2020 or beginning of 2021. Recently, the right side back broke. The rest of the couch is in excellent condition and has been taken care of. I reached out to the company for a replacement part. They have not been helpful, compassionate or even ethical in dealing with this. The only thing I need is a back to keep using the couch created by this company. After receiving an email with no help from them I searched online for a replacement back and could not find one. I don't understand how an American company can be so ruthless. The only thing I want or need is a back to one side of the couch.Customer response

The couch comes with a year warranty. It is past the company's warranty time. I didn't ask them for a refund, repair or even a free replacement part. I asked them to purchase the replacement part. However, they are refusing to sell the part or give directions on where it can be purchased.Business response

Customer, ******* ****, called in 6/12/2023; She stated her date of purchase was during covid - 2020/2021?
Our policy provides a 1-year warranty for parts or replacements. *Customer must provide proof of purchase. *
We keep inventory for up to 18 months, 6 months beyond our warranty period, so we can be a good partner and assist customers.
******* **** was advised that her sofa is beyond our 1-year policy, and we do not have any inventory to assist with.
After multiple follow ups asking ******* **** to provide a receipt, (she can request copy from *****), and if not, a screenshot of a credit card statement should suffice, ******* **** admittedly could not provide any documentation for her proof of purchase.
******* **** then asked to purchase the back piece that she’s missing, and she was told we do not sell directly to consumers, and we do not have this piece in inventory, otherwise we would’ve gladly sent to her and our apologies for the inconvenience.
***PLEASE NOTE: We donate hundreds of salvage items every month (anything beyond 18 months of receiving). These items are resold through non-profit places like Habitat or Salvation. This could've easily been one of those pieces. This is why we enforce our Proof of Purchase policy.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because:
Good evening,
I have been in real estate for over 20 years. During covid I stepped away due to the lack of ethics and moral. I was and am still not willing to take advantage of human beings when I know the prices are inflated. In 2020 I shutdown most of my accounts used for business. One was the ***** account, the other my Discover credit card. the reason for closing the accounts is I have been in and out of the country finishing a masters degree. Obviously, neither of these accounts are beneficial in Africa or the Middle East.
However, I do still use the same bank account and was able to find were the funds were paid on the Discover card. Attached is a screenshot from my bank account. I'm pretty certain Northridge/MCI can verify this is the correct amount. The purchase was made at a local ***** **** not online and according to management those records are no longer available.
In response to the donation statement. Until recently I was interested in joining the United States Department of State. However, after being at the U.S. Embassy in ******** for 10 weeks I realized it's not for me. The reason being is I don't believe in supporting US companies that take advantage of people, it goes against my ethics and virtues. Dealing with this situation and company has reminded me why I cannot work for the federal government. Sadly, I agree with all of the US mission, besides assisting greedy companies who lack compassion, ethics, virtues, and treat human beings as objects.
The self-righteous statement about donations are just a form of tax write-offs. It reminds me of the good Samaritan story. However, it's definitely not about the good Samaritan, instead it's a company choosing to be the Priest and Levite who chose to not help when in their ability to. Instead they crossed on the otherside of the road to avoid the human being in need.
