This former tenant has falsely filled numerous complaints against our company because they received a notice to vacate from the homeowner after the tenant refused to remove a faulty dryer from the property which damaged the electrical system in the house, nearly starting a fire. The tenants did not complete the necessary move-out requirements and a security deposit extension notice, with an interim accounting, was provided to them in compliance with the **** Security Deposit Act.Initial Complaint

*** had a complaint with this company from the moment I moved in. This office specifically is a slum lord and accepts any property it can get their hands on. I made multiple calls to the office over the year and the calls were never returned. The apartment IS Not up to code and made me sick! After living there a few months I was told that the house I occupied was simply built room by room in to the original house. The windows were painted shut. There was no sub flooring so I lived on concrete. There was no insulation, and a poorly working furnace with no AC, despite being in the advertisement. There was a bathroom built on the staircase! When the neighbors moved out we had roaches run in to our side. I understand that this May not have been able to be helped BUT AT LEAST CALL ME BACK!!!However frustrating all of that was my complaint is specifically with the move out and the treatment we have received. This company forces you to pay a security deposit 875 plus a 300 cleaning fee. You then must pay for a professional cleaning service with a receipt to get the money back. This is utterly ridiculous because the ************ **************** was terrible and I would have cleaned it much better.! There is also a specific set of rules to be followed and up to par. In the lease they require Pay and provide a receipt for the Dryer Vent to be cleaned. The dryer vent is an hole outside but I was originally told to provide an professional receipt, after an argument they agreed to at least drop that. I moved out 6/29/2023. I have been lied to by various people including **** , *****, and ***. When dates are provided for the inspection it is never done. When we try to contact ***, he send the call directly to voicemail. This is extremely unprofessional. Why must i follow their rules and they follow none of them? I am trying to get the inspection complete so I can at the vet least get the electricity out of my name!!!!! This property should also be condemned!Customer response

I rented from Remax Realty. I was never late for my rent and never had any issues. I moved out 2 months ago. I just received a letter stating the living room had too many touch ups and they are charging me 1000 to paint one living room. This duplex address is *** ****** *** ****** ** *****. This was a small place and I think this price gouging is absolutely ridiculous. The owners are selling the place and are charging me to fix their place up when I did nothing but take care of it while I lived there.Business response

I do understand the nature of a complaint like this, but the number of touchups that were in this property as it was reported to me was very extensive. With Security deposit dispositions, it is the owner of the property that dictates to us the amount to charge for damages caused by tenants. As the property manager, as long as their instructions are within in the law, as a representative of the owner of the property, we must follow their instructions. This particular owner is an experienced Landlord and is a very fair person when it comes to these kinds of issues. To hire a professional painter to come in and purchase materials, complete prep work, paint the trim work and paint a living room can in fact cost as much as and sometimes more than $1,000.00. A mom and pop type painter can be hired to paint for less that is correct, however, as a property managment firm, we must use contractors that are insured and are business owners...Typcially this type of professional painter to do a job like this one would cost $1,000.00 or more.
