02/19/2022. Pd 17,800.00. Estimate given was with company doing the job start to finish and purchasing materials. A breakdown of the work to be done per insurance estimate was given to the company of what needed to be repaired. The company stopped the job in progress after I refused to pay an additional 12,000.00. I was told that since I was buying the materials that amount would be deducted. The bank held the funds in our escrow for the insurance portion and I paid Mr L**** 8000.00 for the additional 8800.00 estimate. He agreed to knock of 800.00 because he did not paint my sons bedroom. After the bank done their review of the work he completed the bank refuses to payout any additional money. When Mr L**** was told he would not be getting the additional money him and his spouse called cussing and harassing us and sent multiple harassing text messages. He falsified receipts that were given to me and the bank for reimbursement. When I asked for the additional 3000.00 in receipts he would not respond. Come to find out from my bank he duplicated that amount in receipts to get double reimbursement. Upon review of the receipts that I went to lowes and got copies of he purchased close to 1000.00 in tools and charged 100.00 for taking materials to the city dump, receipt showed he paid 12.00, and he submitted a little over 200.00 for gas. He then threatened to make me pay for his meals and if we did not pay him that day by 5:00 pm since the bank refused to pay him additional money he was taking a lien and suing us for the remaining 12,000.00 he wanted. We advised him to go ahead and once I told him I was submitting an investigation report to the IRS and NCDOR he said why son you need to do that we will just cut our losses and call it even. I have now had to hire a new crew to come in and correct his repairs which has cost me an additional so far 7000.00 and I will have to pay around another 4000.00 to have the bathrooms repaired.
