Equity 1 started work on my bathrooms and kitchen in Feb. 2023. At the end of the job, the bathrooms had holes in the walls (behind the vanity), tubs were not in right, plumbing was lose. Kitchen cabinets were not sanded and primed before painted so therefore paint coming off. Tile in bathroom uneven. Master bathroom toilet rocks and is not flush due to the uneven tile. They used their saw on top of my countertops and knicked the counters - causing damage. The showerheads are not centered with the tubs. A wall in the master bathroom is uneven. They fixed a few items, but have not returned to finish the other "repairs". The head ******************** of job sites and owner, had a motorcycle accident that caused him to be immobile for multiple months. I communicated with him on April 11, 2023 and he indicated to me that he would be back in touch the following week. I had multiple conversations with him the months prior about his promise to "make things right". I paid them the final bill because the business owner was in the hospital and couldn't come out to look at the job site. He promised me to get things taken care of when he was able, if I could pay him now so he could pay his subs. I have made attempts without success and I would like half of my money back from where I paid them and I would like to take my business elsewhere. The subcontractors for this company do subpar work and I prefer not to invest any more time and energy into this business.

      Good afternoon,

Yes, I will be responding to this because ***************** has made a lot of false allegations. I have documents and pictures as proof. I will get that information over to you.

      Thank you

I am rejecting this response because: no proof from the business has been submitted.

Please see my original pictures submitted.  I have also attached before photos of kitchen cabinets and a photo of under my bathroom vanity after remodeling.

      Business response

      07/24/2023

      1) From ******: Equity 1 started work on my bathrooms and kitchen in Feb. 2023.

       (1) From Equity 1: This statement is false we started work in Feb 2022 (date highlighted in the contract that she sent).

      (2) From ******: At the end of the job, the bathrooms had holes in the walls (behind the vanity)

      (2) From Equity 1: The photos sent were prior to the wall being finished she purposely sent old photos as an attempt to manipulate what has been done the vanity isn't even installed on this photo this is the wall prior to our drywall guy coming out to finish the wall in the additional work attachment the first picture is the vanity that is installed over that now finished wall.

      (3) From ******: tubs were not in right

      (3) From Equity 1: ****** was informed that due to the age of the house the walls were out of square, however we still removed the tub and walls and added shims to level it to the best of our ability. ****** then requested a FREE tile shower wall upgrade which we denied. We then purchased a new shower wall that was still an upgrade because it is the one she wanted in the beginning that was more expensive. Once the new walls were installed the said she was happy  which she agreed and was happy with the work.

      (4) From ******: plumbing was lose.

      (4) From Equity 1: ****** was advised that due to the vanity she picked the top shelf would not fit which she agreed to. However after leaving she shoved the shelving in the vanity damaging the drain causing a leak. As part of our warranty we offered to send our plumber (*****) out to look at the problem and she stated she didn't want him to come out and that she was bringing her own plumber to " fix all her S**t". At that point she voided her warranty by not allowing us to identify and correct the issue that she actually caused. However, to keep a good relationship with the customer i offered to pay the $80 bill that she said her plumber charged which was only the amount of a normal service charge and not even close to what it would have cost if a plumber had to fix " All her S**t " as she stated. Also she praised ****** work then talked bad about him after she caused damage to her own property.

      (5) From ******:  Kitchen cabinets were not sanded and primed before painting so therefore paint is coming off.

      (5) Equity 1: The kitchen cabinet has paint chipping and it is the cause of normal wear & tear especially in the area of the photos. This is the result of someone or something opening the cabinet and scraping or scratching the paint in the same place. Please note the location in her photo and also notice that the same has not occured in other areas of the cabinet. ****** also has a dog in the house that could have caused this damage. ****** also stated that she had a friendly relationship with our painter and would call him herself as she had him do additional paint work for her during and after the cabinets were painted. I would also like to point out that in the beginning she requested the cabinets be painted 1 color and decided that she didn't like the color and as a curtisty we repainted at no additional charge. Once complete she complimented the paint job and spoke highly of our original painter of whom decided to quit after her re-paint for free request . ****** also picked the paint used for the project, all colors & paint samples.

      (6) From ******:Tile in bathroom uneven. Master bathroom toilet rocks and is not flush due to the uneven tile

      (6) From Equity 1: ****** was informed that the subfloors in the bathroom were rotted as well as termite-eaten wood. We agreed to replace subfloors and level as much as possible. She did not want to replace the floor joist as recommended because she stated that she could not afford it; this was all outside of original scope . New subfloors were installed. As far as the toilet rocking the bolts need to be re-tightened due to weight being applied over time that is normal in any toilet. Any possible unevenness is the cause of bad floor joists again this is something we are not responsible for because we were not paid to replace them we also were only supposed to install waterproof vinyl plank per the contract however we upgraded ****** to tile floors as seen in the photos for free.

      (7) From ******:They used their saw on top of my countertops and knicked the counters - causing damage

      (7) From Equity 1: This is a lie we never cut inside anyone's home. She knows this for sure because during her many visits she personally witnessed us including myself on one occasion cutting under the carport attached to the home outside. I have attached several pictures throughout the renovations process and we are not cutting inside the home in any of them. You can also see in the pictures of the countertops that she submitted they are very old and outdated more than likely to original counters from when the home was built so i'm sure it has some knicks as she stated however none were done by Equity 1.  We also painted the inside of the entire home as well as re-finished hardwood flooring and cutting inside would have been impossible due the the dust it would have caused and issues it would have created with ***************** being painted & refinishing the hardwoods. In the cabinet picture we submitted she had actually started moving her property in and never did she say we knicked her countertops she actually gave us a thumbs up for the cabinet paint work which is directly over & under the countertops. Also notice in the many pictures as well as hers there is no sawdust which it would have been if we were cutting inside.

      (8) From ******: A wall in the master bathroom is uneven.

      (8) From Equity 1: Our fraimer leveled all walls prior to permanently attaching them.

      (9) This is in regards to the ***** refund she's asking for. I find this ironic because she jokingly made that request when asked what we owed for the tiny water spot that she actually caused herself by forcing the shelf in; she then told me to decide. We both agreed that the spot wasn't worth the hassle probably because she knew she was actually the one that caused it.

At this point we are no longer willing to do anything for this customer. She voided her own warranty by not allowing us to view and correct the work she accused us of doing ( water leak ). She has lied multiple times and we are not comfortable dealing with her due to those facts. We are not responsible for  wear & tear.

The $***** refund is definitely denied.

      Customer response

      07/27/2023

I am rejecting this response because:

      (6) I WAS INFORMED THAT ANY TERMITE DAMAGE I HAD WAS ONLY IN 1-2 SMALL PLANKS OF HARDWOOD FLOORING IN MY MASTER BEDROOM  AND IT WAS OLD AND NOTHING ACTIVE.   I WAS NOIFIED THAT THERE WAS ONE AREA OF FLOOR JOISTS THAT HAD DAMAGE BUT IT COULD BE "SCABBED".  (SEE ATTACHED PICTURES)  THERE WAS NEVER A MENTION OF ANY JOISTS NEEDED TO BE COMPLETELY REPLACED.  TOILET ROCKS BECAUSE FLOOR WASN'T INSTALLED PROPERLY.
THERE WAS NEVER A PLAN FOR ANYTHING OTHER THAN TILE.  (7) THERE WAS SO MUCH DUST IN THE HOME (PRIOR TO SHEET ROCK BEING SANDED) THAT THEY SAWED INSIDE OF THE HOME.  THE CONTRACTOR WAS NEVER PRESENT AFTER THE FIRST WEEK DUE TO BEING IN THE HOSPITAL.  HE WAS UNABLE TO SEE THE WORK HIMSELF.  (8) NO COMMENT.
      (9) THIS IS JUST UNTRUE. WHEN THE CONTRACTOR CAN PROVIDE SOME BEFORE AND AFTER PICTURES OF THEIR WORK THEN AN ADDITIONAL RESPONSE IS APPROPRIATE.  I AM REQUESTING TO BE REFUNDED FOR THE AMOUNT OF THE CABINETS TO BE "CLEANED, SANDED, PRIMED AND PAINTED."  THAT WAS NOT DONE AND I WAS CHARGED FOR THOSE SERVICES.  I PAID ****************, WITHOUT RESOLVE OF THESE ISSUES, DUE TO HIS UNFORTUNATE CIRCUMSTANCES OF BEING HOSPITALIZED AND HIS INABILITY TO PAY TO HIS SUBCONTRACTORS WITHOUT ME PAYING HIM FIRST.  I AM REQUESTING A REFUND OF $2500.00

      Business response

This is in regards to the customers last message received today.

We could go on and on about this and getting nowhere so apparently we went from 7K refund to a **** refund. That request is also denied.

      1. Again we are not responsible for wear and tear.

      2. That wasnt even the price of the original painting. We only charged her **** for the entire home, trim, & cabinets which was an extremely good price.

Im not going to continue going back-and-forth with ****** in regards to this.

      Request denied.

Also, weve already sent pictures documents and correspondences between ****** and Equity1 to support our defense. Most of which she denied in her rebuttal. But those indeed are her messages and that indeed, is her phone number.
