Shipley Builders, **** is the business name, whose principals are Chuck Shipley and his son, **** Shipley. We have been dealing with **** Shipley, whom we entered into a contract with on 8/4/23 for services for the construction of a custom home. **** Shipley possesses an invalid ** contractor's license, a crucial requirement for undertaking the construction of a custom home. This omission constitutes a material breach of the contract rendering it impossible for him to fulfill his obligations under the agreement. In consideration for the construction of the custom home, we paid a deposit of $4,000 to **** Shipley, aka Shipley Builders, **** via 2 personal checks. We have, on multiple occasions, as **** Shipley to refund our $4,000, and he has refused to take our calls or return the funds, and there has been no resolution to this matter as of 1/31/24.Initial Complaint

I paid Shipley Builders to remodel a deck . He started the project, left the deck unusable and he never finished the job. Took my money and haven’t seen him since.Initial Complaint

Contractor did not meet terms of the agreement to clear Lake Gaston waterfront lot. He lied about having finished the work and took funds. He has now refused to finish the work or to return the funds. Also, Contractor has violated Dominion Power permit and damaged the property waterfront/vegetation resulting in Dominion Power posting the property and submitting a claim to Dominion Legal Department.
