We asked M.D Plumbing and Mechanical to come to investigate a water leak in a bathroom. They came out, determined the leak was associated with a failed wax ring under a toilet and that there was a huge amount of damage to the house associated with the leak. They called my contact for approval to proceed, which they did not obtain, but proceeded with the repair anyway, presumably justified by their judgement of the extensive water damage. My representative inspected the house yesterday immediately after the repair and there is NO damage to the house. The cost for this unauthorized replacement of a wax ring was $1256.30. Another quote received from a licensed plumber in the same area is $140-$210. Even if the repair was authorized (which it wasn't), this is clearly a case of price gouging. I do not intend to pay their bill and will NEVER use them again.

I have attached all documents. I have included the recorded phone conversation, with upfront pricing, price approval, and job approval. Before and after pictures are included as well as the damage done to the house. The ceiling has water damage. Let it be known the closet was also damaged.
The issue was NOT a failed wax ring as the customer is stating, but a failed Toilet ******. Evidence is provided in the photos. A Wax Ring and Toilet ****** are not the same problem. It is also noted that the original ****** was 1/2" below the floor causing water damage and not to plumbing code.
The price included dispatch, diagnostic, removal of old ******, and installation of new ******, wax ring, toilet supply line, ******************, and caps and removal and resetting of toilet. Toilet was sealed to floor per code book. The customer was also given the option to not proceed with the job, which they did say "proceed" as evident in the recorded phone conversation. The invoice which is also provided states a Toilet ****** was replaced.
