    ***BUYER BEWARE*** If you are looking to purchase a Toyota 4 runner from Mebane Auto Group, make sure you get a full inspection of the undercarriage and frame! The day after arriving home with the vehicle purchased from them, I presented it to my daughter for her birthday and told her I needed to have it checked thoroughly by our trusted Toyota Mechanic. The next day, we drove it over to the mechanic and asked them to give the vehicle a thorough inspection as well as to take a look at the 4 lo issue. After just 2 hours, I received call from our mechanic. They emailed a link to the inspection report showing a major issue. The mechanic stated that the dealership had painted the undercarriage to conceal a major rust issue with the frame and that the vehicle was not safe for me or my daughter to drive. He also stated that the frame would not last more than a year or two before falling apart. Please make sure you are purchasing the vehicle I was charged a documentation and processing fee of $500 just to return it to the Mebane Auto Group.

    Hi *** - we appreciate the feedback, though are surprised with the direct attack when we worked with you to ensure your satisfaction. Why someone would choose to buy a vehicle, signing all documents agreeing to purchase AS-IS if they were going to have another inspection performed and then complain anyways after sale is beyond us. Why not spend the time (and less money) having an inspection BEFORE you buy it? There was nothing to hide on this CARFAX showing a New York owned 191k mile vehicle. A high mileage vehicle with all 16 years in New York will have rust. Most our customers do take our vehicles to do an inspection prior to purchase. This vehicle was priced $3k below market because of the known issues and imperfections. We're upfront with our customers as seen in your comments, the salesman told you exactly what was wrong with the vehicle, hence the discounted price. We didn't hide the issues the vehicle had, in fact we directly told you. But unfortunately most consumers choose price over quality. We had other 4Runners with no issues, but priced higher. We stand behind our vehicles and do our best to provide good customer service; we encourage inspections before purchase and a warranty to give peace of mind when something does go wrong.

    First and foremost, your sales manager did not disclose the extent of rust damage on the frame and undercarriage. This is evidenced by the fact that you required pictures of the rust damage from my mechanic as proof before moving forward on resolution during our arbitration call. Also, this is not an attack on your business. This is a warning to your future customers about doing their due diligence when purchasing a vehicle from your business (just as you recommended in your response). I don't want anyone to experience what I did with my daughter as well as the cost I incurred (Flight, time from work, document and processing fees) based on the promise from your business of a solid vehicle that would last for years for my daughter.
