We hired Meridian DesignBuild in the fall of 2020 to perform an extensive renovation of our kitchen and also renovate unfinished attic space into an additional bedroom. Meridian appeared to say all the right things during negotiations. However, the entire job felt like a nightmare as soon as it started. After indicating that we would be his top-priority and that he would be on-site multiple times per week, we failed to see *** (the Owner) for several months leaving us to direct and supervise sub-contractors ourselves. The little communication we did receive was ineffective and did not address any of our concerns. Further, we had no expectation of when subs would be on-site and workers kept getting pulled off our job to correct work for other problem clients.It appeared that Meridian was only interested in collecting checks, which we dutifully paid despite a repeated pattern on failing to complete the work. This resulted in a significant amount of work remaining incomplete at the end of the job. Further, it appears that shortcuts were taken at every opportunity with the hopes that we wouldnt notice. We believe Meridian made many promises it never intended to keep in order to secure the work. Most of these promises went unfulfilled. *** also appeared to low-ball his estimate, evidenced by the constant additional ******** and allowances that were nowhere near reality.It has taken several court actions to get Meridian to perform the work they were contracted and paid to do, and even now Meridian refuses to complete the work and we are left with an incomplete project after 24 months. We will be on the hook to hire another contractor to clean up the incomplete and substandard work of Meridian.Our strong advice is to avoid Meridian DesignBuild and its unprofessional and unethical behavior.
