I had an appointment on 12/28/23 at Maaco in *********** to discuss a complete color change on a vehicle. I pulled into the parking space, heard a scrapping, so i backed up a little and heard cracking scraping. Maaco had left rebar posts over an inch long over the tops of there concrete parking space blocks, they also had painted them yellow like the blocks. Attached is the picture of my vehicle on scene where rebar ripped bumper cover off and broke support bracket among other things. All the manager could tell me was call customer service. She wouldn't tell me the franchise owners name. I told her since she was the manager she should get someone to cut that rebar flush before someone could get killed during a fall by one. I have called and left message with customer service. I have emailed them and i have called the head of franchising. Their gross negligence damaged my vehicle and all the manager could do was smirk and tell me all i could do is call customer service.

I reached out to the customer on 1/10 and asked him to explain what happened during his visit on 12/28. Customer told me what happened and I repeated it back to him to make sure I understood, and he agreed. Basically he says he parked normally and that a 1-2inch rebar was sticking out of a parking block, that caused the damage to his car

The footage of the parking lot shows the customer hitting the parking block hard enough that the car to bounced, and him hitting/pushing the car hard enough that the car rolls back. The video of the lobby shows a customer sitting next to the window in front of where he parked. The impact was so loud that it startled the customer and can be seen getting up/turning her head to see what happened

The customer claims rebar sticking out 1-2 inches out of the parking block caused damage to his car, but it is important to note he drives a lowered sports car that sits very low to the ground and would scrape a parking block if not parked carefully. Attached are pictures of the parking block showing rebar sticking 1/4 inch. The pictures clearly show the customer is not being truthful.

I told him I would be willing to give him a discounted price to repair the car. The customer was not interested in working together to find a solution. He threatened legal action if I did not meet his demands, which we will not. The video and pictures show he is not being truthful.

I am rejecting this response because:
The reason the bumper ramps up is because the rebar that hit it. As you see in picture from other side of car, there is plenty of room to clear the top of the concrete block. Also you can zoom into adjacent parking spaces and see how high up the rebar is sticking. The Rebar was also painted yellow like the block, making it unnoticeable before it is too late.

MAACO of *********** negligence caused over $3000 of damage to my car.

Attached is the estimate. Please do the right thing!

As previously stated, I was willing to do the repairs at a discounted price and the customer rejected that offer. I standby my statements that the customer is responsible for the damage to his vehicle because of the manner in which he parked.

Furthermore, I believe that the video and photo evidence submitted clearly shows the customer is grossly misrepresenting the facts, and is intentionally damaging our business's reputation for his own gain.
