Date of transaction: July 23, 2024 Date of initial notification of damages: July 31, 2024 Amount paid to Port City Movers: $1,290.59 Port City Movers was hired to move specific furniture items from ******, ** to ***********, **. In addition, full coverage insurance was charged to cover the items paid to Port City Movers. My dispute is that extensive damage occurred to my furniture and walls. When I contacted the Port City Movers, I was directed to a 3rd party company, who has not returned emails or phone calls. When following up with Port City Movers, the manager I directed my email message to did not respond, but was informed by another PCM employee that they would reach out to the 3rd party company and have them contact me. I have received NO contact by anyone to resolve the damages to my property.Business response

Paid $3091.10 on April 15, 2024 April 8 Representative came to our house to inspect all items to be moved. April 15, 2024 Crew packed and loaded furniture. Truck would not hold all the items listed. April 15, 2024 Unpacking in *************, **.. Asked to sign off on the inventory sheet. Asked about some things in the living area that were not placed properly. The 65-inch TV was supposed to be put in place and connected. Box removed revealing 3 broken places in *******. Asked to go ahead and sign off and called to report damage. After the movers left, we discovered broken glass in the driveway and garage, not sure what was actually broken. Upstairs discovered huge dent in the dryer. Noticed dents and scratches on the outside of the washer and dryer. Water stains next to the washer and when turned on, water spurted from the hoses. Wooden daybed was loose with screws missing other paris tossed around the room. Next day, noticed the leg and support shelf on a black marble top table was badly scratched. Saw damage to the wall going upstairs. The middle support for the railing pushed in leaving a hole. May 6, 2024 ***** forms sent to:Moving ***** Services ***************, NC c/o ********************************** ************ May 13, 2024 Queen-sized bed tilting. Looking underneath saw feet were only connected on one side of the frame. Removed the mattress and box spring and discovered the support beams were not screwed in, missing screws in several places. Two bed frame feet/legs were missing. Ones attached both on the bottom support beam. Spoke with ********* to report. Told we would hear from them and insurance company to rectify the problem. No response since then.Relating to the bed, more damage being done and may cause us harm. Insurance forms make a point that they have 9 months and if we replace or repair, they will not reimburse us for the damages.Business response

I am rejecting this response because:
Port City Movers refered this complaint to their insurance company, Moving *************** They stated that they would respond "no later then August 7, 2024 if not sooner." have had no response from ***********************************. I have tried to call her and got no answer from her office. I did leave a message.
The damages are very extensive and we have waited almost 3 months to get this resolved. I feel that Port City Movers is ultimately responsible. I would like to reopen this complaint against Port City Movers.
Thank You.

I am rejecting this response because: There is no time line for getting the hole in the wall repaired. If this can be done, we will accept the offer. We are in a rental, and regardless of what the movers said, we would not have moved in with any damage to any walls in this home. Also if we accept, can we still post a review of this company with BBB?

I hired Port City Movers(PCM) paid $2,236 for a complete house move on March 25, 2023. There were some damages during the move & after I was presented the Bill ** Lading I asked how to claim them. The crew lead walked around with me as I pointed out the damages. He then crossed out and changed the time, hours, and total hourly charges to reflect the additional time it took to walk around and document the damages. I was given claim information sheet and I wrote down items since I did not receive a copy of what he wrote down -Aug 3, I submitted claim package & timestamped pictures -Aug 4, receipt of the claim package confirmed & told I would receive a resolution within 90 days.-Nov 14, asked for status of claim & was told my claim would be settled before Nov 27 -Nov 20, received denial of claim, 108 days after they confirmed they received claim package.-Nov 21, called to discuss denial, received an email stating to forward all questions via email -Dec 11, sent email disputing denial -Dec 12, sent email to ************************* (PCM owner) letting him know my experience -Dec 15, received call from claims, I emailed asking for info to be sent via email to document discussion. I did not receive any info about the denial I read the crew firmly denied any damages or discussion of the damages. I firmly stand behind my claim as fact. I take questioning my integrity as an insult and offensive. I am disappointed to find myself going through such a lengthy process to cover my losses. For me, it is no longer about the money to repair damages, it is about my right to compensation. PCM seems to have money above customer satisfaction and uses time as a tactic for denial. I legally have 9 months to address damages and file a claim. On April 1, 2024, I have painters scheduled to come and paint damaged walls. I hope PCM will reconsider their decision and take care of this claim. However, if necessary, I will assert my legal rights for compensation.Business response
