On 7/18 ***********************, salesman for Lightning Bolt Roofing showed up at my house asking to inspect my roof for hail damage. He was allowed to do the inspection. He came inside to tell me he did find hail damage and wanted to contact my insurance and file a claim. He asked me to sign a contract saying Id use his company for a roof if it was approved. The cancellation policy was three days. The insurance did not come to approve the new roof for a week so there was no way to cancel the contract according to its guidelines. He then showed up at my house and talked my wife, who obviously has diminished mental capacity due to health related issues, into writing him a check for $1000. Luckily I intercepted the check before he left. I then got a letter from his companys lawyer saying further action may be taken against me if the $1000 isnt paid. My daughter contacted the owner of the company as well as the lawyer trying to resolve the issue.

Roof was inspected, claim filed, homeowners along with adult children were there the day of. If there were any issues or something they didnt feel comfortable with it could have been addressed at that time before moving forward with ************** and his wife. Yes, We also give homeowners a 3 day cancelation to talk with family or others if they want to move forward or not and they have 3 days to decide to move forward or not. They didnt cancel. Met with the adjuster, home was approved by insurance, customer received check. ************** wasnt home at the time to sign the insurance check and when going over final paperwork so a time was set at 7pm that afternoon to come back when he got home to finish paperwork and collect the payment from the insurance. *************** went ahead and said she would write the deductible payment and then they would meet that afternoon. So that is when *** went back and ************** said to bring the check back in and said he wouldnt be working with Lightning Bolt Roofing. *** asked nicely May I ask what changed your mind? ************** said a few words and the *** said there is a cancellation fee on our contract I will have office reach out. He wasnt happy. Office tried several times as did the owner of the company to reach out and never received a call back, till 8/19/24 when the daughter called the office and spoke with the manager after receiving notice  saying that the *** was taking advantage of elderly people. I stated this isnt true he done all he was suppose to taking care of them and she said  I was there he was taking advantage so why not intervene if you felt this way? No response. Explained she could call lawyer for further information. As the cancellation period had passed and the check for ***lacement was already in hand and they changed their minds. Its just our policy as it states in our contract.

After putting my new roof on. The workers left 74 nails in my driveway. My husband and I had to clean them up. ***** would come fix that issue. We ended up with a flat tire. Workers left chicken bones in my yard. I have dogs. Workers busted my deck and moved a trash can over top of it. They didn't change my facia boards like stated in my insurance paper. They left bad wood knowing it was to be fixed.. I never got a updated contract with them after upgrading my roof. The company will not call me back nor answer the phone. The interior work has been terrible. I have paint cracking all over my ceilings. On my insurance paper they was to R&R my crown molding they never R&R. I have cracks and a unfinished job. The interior people have told us it's because it's a "old home" the water leaks that was fixed now look worse they didn't sand the spots down they just painted over. We have paint in my sons carpet. This has been the most unprofessional company I've ever had to deal with. Poor work ethics from workers and unprofessional management. They got their first check and didn't care after that.

To Whom it may concern responding to this

We had someone come out day that the homeowner called about nails in her driveway because as roofers pulled out we assume the nails fell out in driveway from the trailer pulling off, but as stated that day we had a worker go out walk around with the homeowner and a magnet to ensure all nails were picked up, month later she sent a message on Sunday to sales rep stating she got a nail in her tire from parking in the yard and was sitting on the side of the road later that day we have already fixed this issue, The back deck the roofers had never stepped through as they knew of but it was fixed anyway, the fascia repair on the side of home per Insurance scope was completed and customer was extremely happy. With the chicken bones our roofers didn't have chicken they did have Mexican from a nearby place we are unsure of the chicken wing issue. Crown molding was removed and replaced, and we have more work being done to the inside of the home to make this customer happy. The owner himself has been out there. But all issues have been fixed or addressed.

      Better Business Bureau:

I did see there response. Yesterday the owner personally came out and addressed the issues himself and is making it right. He has apologized to myself and husband and has a gentleman repairing the damages.
