Be careful with ***** from Miller construction, our experience with our project ended up being stressful and we were left with an incomplete mess. ***** charges hourly, which basically means he charges you whatever he wants to charge you unless you supervise the job from start to finish. He lost our trust after the 2nd day of clearing our half acre lot. Our original rough estimate turned into double, and then triple the price if we wanted him to finish. I ended up having to ask him to leave after being asked for more money the 3rd time, we paid him $25,000 and he and his crew left us with a complete mess of scraps and stump holes. The mess we were left cost us thousands to have someone else come in and clean up as all the saleable wood was already sold and removed by Miller. I hope this review helps someone else from being taken advantage of like we were. ***** sounded like a trustworthy and knowledgeable old timer but he was a big disappointment for my wife and I.

      ************** Review Response
This job was a time and material job from start till stopping (We Do Not Quote Clearing). Mr. ************** was given a rate sheet showing the hourly rates for equipment and labor. Hourly trucking rates and dump fees per load for root mat, tree and stump debris, and cost of fill dirt. Start of job we were to clear for the driveway, house, and septic tank area with a deposit of $15,000.00. After the driveway, house and septic tank area was cleared; Mr. ************** decided he wanted all of the trees removed along the outer edges of the property, which was as much as or more than the original clearing we were hired to do with an additional deposit of $10,000.00. All equipment time, labor, and materials is turned in at the end of every day to the office. It is not charging whatever we want, there was a rate sheet given to go by. This lot was within an s/d in the Town of ******** City's jurisdiction where burning clearing debris is not allowed and has to be hauled out. Mr. ************** was aware of this. Until you start removing the tree and brush debris and root mat it is unknown how thick a layer of root mat, how many trees will be removed and how many loads of tree, brush and root mat debris will be hauled out. This was an overgrown wet lot with trees growing for at least the last 35 years.
If Mr. ************** lost trust in our work on the 2nd day of clearing, then why did he allow the clearing to continue for the driveway, house, and septic tank area and then requested additional clearing of the trees along the outer edges of the property for 7 more full days .
There was 1 hour of work that was not charged on the last day to pile the logs for the logger to have access to them.
Mr. ************** was notified on 8/20/2021 Friday that he was out of money and that we worked free for the last hour of the day.
Then on 8/23/2021 and 8/25/2021 we repaired the temporary driveway in the drainage ditch to access the lot, washed out by the rain at no charge.
8/30/2021 Mr. ************** agreed to pay for the temporary driveway repair again because of the rain for the logger to access the logs to be hauled out. 1 load of pulp wood logs only brings $50.00, which is better than paying a loading, trucking and dump fee for the logs. He paid 890.00 extra repairing the temporary driveway access.
We removed the temporary driveway in the drainage ditch when Mr. ************** said he was unable to continue with the clearing at this time 9/2/2021 to allow for the water to flow in the drainage ditch.
There was a total of 9 days worked including last day worked on 8/20/2021 besides the extra 1 day repairing the temporary driveway access for the logger.
9 Days of Excavator - Dozer - Labor w/ saw
      7 ½ Hours strapping trees
      50 Hours Trucking fees
50 loads root mat-tree brush debris - stumps tipping fees
This job was not completed as the owner said he was not in a position to spend any more money on the lot at that time, as he had a baby on the way. At no time did we quote a complete cost for this job. It was a time and material job.
