The job started on 3-4-2024. It took them one and a half days to complete it.This is a rental house. I was willing to pay a lot of money to get a professional job and good quality work as promised.Mr ********************** said he charged more because of their superior work & experience. On 3-10 I drove 5 hours to see the work and pay them. It was the most unprofessional finish work I had ever seen. If they didn't have the correct supplies or needed more products they put putty and painted over it in the bathroom. The bathroom window case was cut very crooked.Mr ********************** sent his son to get the money from me. He was very argumentative when I brought up issues that were terrible. He said he wanted to be paid and he wasn't coming back to fix anything and he offered to take $500 off. I was very upset but I paid him. On 3-13 Mr ********************** Senior reached out and admitted it looked bad and he wanted to make good. He sent a worker and he did make some things better. After they put in the new tub in the water was pure rust when turned on.The renter was told it would stop.They used the wrong pipe which my husband told them. After changing the carbon steel pipe no more issues. Later faucets were loose. Glue came off and they fixed it by shimming wood and more glue.The bathtub makes noises when you get in.They said it needed to settle & would stop. Obviously it wasn't set correct. Mr ********************** said he would fix loose railing on porch but hasn't shown up. He said he would look at the bathtub to see why it was making the noise. I told him when the renters mom could let him in and no reply back.I sent him video of the tub and every issue. He knows a new tub will have to be put in and like I told him he only cares about money. He constantly told me how good they were and everything had a warranty. It is the worst job I have ever seen and they have been a nightmare to work with. They put a board down in front of tub instead of buying a piece of mold.The tub is a major issue & a safety issue as well.Business response

I am rejecting this response because:Good Morning,
Mr ********************** responded back to my text message yesterday and said that he would send his employee ***** to fix the bathtub
this Saturday, June 15th at 4pm. ***** also went on May 31st and attempted to fix it. ***** also took pictures of things that still
needs to be fixed. I told Mr. ********************** that ***** could go work on the tub Saturday since he said no one needed to be home to let
***** in. I also told Mr. ********************** that I would like everything fixed Saturday and my concern is he is sending ***** late in the day to do everything. I feel as usual he is not allowing the time needed to correct everything the correct way in one trip.

I am rejecting this response because:
Mr Howard sent his employee on July 9th and the bathtub is still creaking and popping. I contacted him yesterday and told him it didnt work. He said that they would come and take the tub out and put a new subfloor and cement down and that should fix it. He said he will put me on the schedule but it would be at least three weeks. I agreed and said please dont forget to put me on your schedule. Im rejecting it because it has not been fixed yet so Im hoping after three weeks it will be resolved. I will let you know when Im on the schedule and the outcome.Thank you,

I am rejecting this response because:I am writing to update you with A Step Above Handyman, Mr ****** Howard. He gave you a verbal statement that he would fix the bathtub within a week on July 10, 2024. The same day he wrote in a text message to me that he would fix the tub and subfloor and reinstall the tub/shower but it would be at least three weeks before he could get there. I responded okay but please dont forget to get me on your schedule.
Today has been three weeks and he has never contacted me to go and do the work. Time after time he doesnt show up to fix it as it has been documented. This is why I did not agree on closing this case until he actually showed up and fixed it like he said that he would.

I am rejecting this response because:Mr ********************** has had every opportunity to fix this and he no shows and puts me off constantly. I have found out that they even left the floor out where they cut it to do pipe work. Anything can crawl in another contractor told me.The verbal response he sent is unacceptable. He told my tenant not to ever contact him again because he's not the client.I feel by his dishonest actions and bad work he ripped me off and needs to refund money. The deck boards that are warped are because 50% were installed incorrect.I have had another contractor to look at everything. Mr ********************** should be ashamed.Business response

The owner Mr. ********************** has agreed to provide a new sub floor for the consumer. The business has requested that the consumer contact him by text with the couple of days to set up a date that will be 2 weeks out, he will send 2 of his employees, one being ******, but he will not be there he will he going on vacation.
Mr. ********************** states he will not consider a full refund.

I am rejecting this response because:I am sending another quote that hopefully you can open, not that it really matters though. I contacted Mr ********************** yesterday. He said he has his hands full at his own home with the hurricane. I can understand that. He said he will contact me as soon as he can.

Yes, already filed a complaint and nothing... ************ didn't even get my roof right. Second complaint...why do they have a good rating when they c*** people all over *********. Floor also not right even broken in spots. ****** dollars and already costing me. Shouldn't be in business SHAME on BBB for not fixing their ratings and allowing a shady Mafia connection group stay in business. Money speaks right.Business response
