    I broke my lease early from LC Brier Creek after living there for 6/7 months. My girlfriend *****, our 8 pound miniature pinscher and myself moved in in February and moved out in August. We paid $3,700 (two months rent) to break our lease and $150 to have LC clean the place up for us. We were never late on any payments and kept our place clean the entire time we lived there. A couple weeks after being fully moved out of the apartment, LC sends me an invoice of over $1,200 to replace the entire upstairs carpet. I was in disbelief. I cleaned the carpet before I left and couldn't imagine why this was happening. It turns out that LC ripped up the carpet and found a couple stains underneath the carpet. I asked for pictures of the actual carpet that was stained on the outside, which they did not provide because they did not have any. The stains were invisible from the outside. I asked them why couldn't they clean the carpet, or have me do it? They said the carpet was irreparable, which after showing me pictures of the small stains underneath the carpet after ripping it up, could not have been more false. These stains were very faint and could have easily been cleaned. According to their lease and their employees that have communicated with me, "Replacement is not required if the stains are easily removable." They did not make a single attempt to clean the carpet, or give me a chance to try and clean it or hire someone myself to clean it. After calling many professional carpet cleaning services, they told me that the carpet did not need to be replaced and they could have cleaned it. It feels like LC is bullying me to pay them because they already paid to rip up the entire floor of carpet and replace it. It's very concerning to me because they are going against their own policies and I'm sure they have done this to many other residents as well. They are threatening to send the $1200 to a debt collection agency. They also already chose to keep the $200 security deposit.
