On 6 April 24, I traded my vehicle for a 2023 Toyota Tacoma at Mt. Airy Toyota. It was made very clear early on that I was a ******* resident needing a FL registration. I am a military member stationed in ********, and would need all subsequent registration sent to my VA address. Nothing in this process should be sent to my FL residence. On 6 May 24, I was called by *********************, my salesperson, while away on a work assignment stating I needed to sign a ***** of ********* as the original forms I had signed for my registration were not correct. I was unavailable to return right away, so we agreed the forms would be sent to my VA address and I would have them signed and notarized upon my return. I asked **** if I would receive a new 30-day tag so I could drive my truck, and was told I could continue driving it on expired temporary tags as police would understand a delay in receiving registration. I was not comfortable doing this and requested permanent tags as soon as possible. I received the forms 21 May 24, and had them notarized and *****'d back 22 May 24.On 6 June 24, I called to ask for an update and was told it was processing. On 11 June 24, I called and was told FL DMV had processed my registration but needed proof of insurance. I sent proof immediately to ********, the Title Clerk. On 14 June 24, ******** called and notified me they had ******* my plate and it and I would have them by noon the next day. I never received this. On 17 June 24, I called ******** and left a voicemail requesting a callback since I had still not received my registration, and was never called. On 19 June 24, I again called ******** and was again sent to voicemail. My father spoke to a manager and was told they had *****'d my plate to my FL address, despite my early notification against doing so. After several more phone calls, I was told I would have to rectify the situation myself with the FL DMV.I have had this truck since April and have been unable to drive it since May.

      Customer response

      06/28/2024

I am rejecting this response because:
While I can appreciate that efforts were finally taken to retrieve the necessary registration and plate for my truck, this response does not address the repeated failures of the Mt. Airy Toyota team.

      It does not address:

-That it took a month to recognize the original paperwork issue.

-That no alternative options were provided to allow me the use of my truck while the temporary tag was expired and while I waited for the permanent tags.

-That despite the ***** of ******** being sent to my correct VA address, the license plate was sent was still sent to my FL address.

-That I was repeatedly by both the Title Clerk and the Manager that I would have to be the one to correct their mistake in sending the plate to the wrong address.

-That due to no fault of my own, I went nearly 2 months without the use of a truck requiring me to find alternative means of travel.

I feel as though I have been more than patient with the issues and have done my best to provide any and all necessary information as it was requested. The Mt. Airy Toyota team did not seem interested in reciprocating this or providing any level of care in their process, and I will not allow my complaints to be swept under the rug with essentially an "I'm sorry but we finally fixed it nearly three months later." As included in my initial complaint, I would like $500 as compensation for the lost use of my truck. Any further delay will result in my request for additional compensation due to the continued delay in resolution for any and all issues.
