I took a diamond earring to Buddys Jewelry and asked if they could make me an earring just like it because I had lost the one that matched it. I was told that they could but it would be after Christmas before they could do it and it would be $140. I received a phone call the first part of February informing me that my earrings were ready. In the meantime, my husband found the match to the earring they were making for me. When I went to pick up my earrings, they did not look right. When I got home, I compared it to the earring that we had found and they were smaller. When I took the earring back to Buddys jewelry, I was told that the diamond was not smaller, but it was in a different setting because they could not find a setting like the one that I gave them. I was told that they took my diamond out and put it in a setting that would match the setting that they could find and created me a pair of earrings in that setting and that is why it looked smaller. I let ****** know that that was not acceptable because no one had contacted me to ask me if it was all right to do that. She agreed that it never shouldve happened but offered no compensation, and assured me that the diamond was the same size.I took the diamond earrings that she had made along with my original that I had found to two other jewelry stores (one being the original jewelry store that I had bought the earrings from). Both jewelers told me that the diamonds in the earrings that she had made me were smaller than the diamond in the original earrings. The jeweler that I had originally bought the earrings from told me that the earrings that she gave me were a quarter of a carat and my original earring was a third of a carat.I am attaching a photo. The earring on the left is my original earring. The earring on the right is one of the earrings that I received back from Buddys Jewelry.
