Rented house from Sloane July 23,2022. We paid $6,524.84. Problems started from the beginning. Front porch light did not work all week. Completely dark on front porch and steps. Spindle missing on front porch. Hole big enough for our small grandkids to fall through. Kitchen sink stopped up. Dishwasher broke, top rack hanging down to bottom. Floors and rugs filthy. No vacuum in the house. Discovered fresh blood on mattress pad that was covered up with sheet. Further investigation of other beds found mattresses and pillows stained with blood and urine. Lights going to upstairs bedrooms did not work all week. On top of all these things the worst was the house is infested with German roaches. Exterminator came out to house. We had to sit toaster and coffee pot out on porch. Everything we touched in the kitchen brought out more roaches. We had purchased groceries and it was impossible to keep the roaches out. Exterminator said the only way to treat the problem would be for us to vacate the house for hours and he would spray everything. Then housekeeping would have to come in and clean. A rep that came out to the house agreed the house was not up to standards. She even took a trash bag and went through the kitchen trashing things. She did not want us doing the whole house treatment, she said housekeeping would have to come back and that seemed to be a problem. She said she would give back cleaning fee. She also told us to discuss a fair compensation for all that we went through. We talked and settled on half of what we paid. I had to contact her after we gave her the amount and she messaged back and said we would not get any further compensation. There was no explanation! No further communication from anyone. Our vacation was a nightmare. Exterminator suggested we unpack outside our house when we returned home. We did find roaches in our bags when we got home. Thankfully he told us to unpack outside. I don't think we should have to unpack outside coming from Ocean Isle.

Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2022/08/17) */ We regret that the conditions that the guest experienced at the property. This was not a situation we wished upon the guest. The property is on a routine pest program and was being treated on schedule. When the guest brought the concern to our attention, we immediately reacted by providing bug treatment and post housekeeping services to ensure that the property was clean and comfortable for the guest. We acknowledge that this was not a desirable experience for the guest to endure while on vacation. For that, as the agent of the homeowner, we were authorized to refund the guest $580.66 for the inconveniences they incurred during their stay which was close to 10% of the total cost of their stay. We hate that this ****** family experienced this while on vacation. However, things do happen and as a result our goal is to react to ensure the issue is resolved and as favorably as possible for the guest. Consumer Response /* (3000, 12, 2022/08/17) */ I do see their response on this report. There is no way this house is treated on a regular basis. The amount of roaches in that house was unbelieveable. You wouuldn't have pest this bad if it were regulary treated. I simply don't believe that. There were plenty other problems besides just the roaches. So many electrical problems. The mattresses, pillows, couch, rugs, etc were disgusting and the rep that came out agreed to all of that. They just don't stand behind their customers. I will be posting all about them on Facebook and all Social Media. They had a chance to make this right and they chose not too.

We rented a house from Sloane Realty for July 23-30, 2022. The house was infested with German cockroaches-the rep from Sloane said the previous renters had complained of Cockroaches. The house had not been treated before we arrived. There were fresh blood, urine, and other stains on the bedding. It clearly had not been cleaned and changed before our arrival. Several lights in the house were inoperable. There were NO outside lights on the porch/steps. There were broken spindles on the second story porch, creating a fall hazard for the small children in our group. The kitchen was so poorly stocked we couldn't even do basic cooking for our group of 12 (the house was advertised to sleep 17). The pots that were in the kitchen were the smallest pots that come in a set of cookware. We had to purchase a frying pan because there was not one at all. We couldn't use the toaster and coffee maker and had to place them outside on the porch because there were cockroaches living in them. The rep from Sloane came to the house and was made aware of each of these issues. She told us that she was going to purchase cookware for the house so we could cook. This never happened. We had purchased food for the week and were unable to use a lot of it because we didn't have cookware in which to prepare it. We didn't want to chance bringing roaches into our homes, so it was thrown out before leaving When packing up to come home, we had to check all of our clothes, towels, bags, etc. for roaches. When we returned to our homes, we then had to unpack our bags outside our homes to make sure we weren't bringing roaches inside. We requested to have some of our rental fees refunded from Sloane due to the horrible inconveniences we incurred, as well as the unexpected filth in the rental home. Sloane only refunded the cleaning fee (less than $600 total). This is unacceptable business practice. I posted a review for the house on Sloane's website (twice) and the review has never appeared on their site.
