Complaint:My sister was a patient in the hospital for mental illness for 12 years, and she was released from ************************* in ****** January 2023. The social worker at the hospital named **********************, assured us that everything will be in place before my sister's release, and that her social security was applied for by ****** herself and her fees for the family home will be taken care of. It has not, she dropped the ball, ******* and Durham social security dropped the ball, and complaints were filed today against them too. My complaint here is against One ****************** Home and ***************************, the Director at One ****************** Home. ***** told me in January to pay only $735 of her monthly $1275 fee until my sister gets approved for SSI, and at the time, my sister only received $521 for disability. Any money my sister had during her release was taken up by paying the difference of the family care home's fees, her clothing/shoes, extra takeout food and drink requested by my sister, etc. When the money was gone, I had to pay the difference out of pocket. From January to the present, ***** has been hounding me about going back to social security, which I did several times, as well as calling them about the status of the money, which I did, and reminding me about the growing balance, as we wait for my sister's SSI. My sister had to go to the hospital days after arriving at the home in January due to pneumonia, and she was there for 2 ********************** did not prorate the payment, and my sister has been in ******** again at the present time for 1 month and almost died due to a very serious case of pneumonia and ended ** in the **** ***** did not prorate the payment. She visited my sister, her resident once, the first week, but has not since, nor has she asked about her health status, but ***** has texted me during this time about getting full payment for my sister and demanding that my parents and I pay her the full amount for my sister's care starting January 3rd until her full SSI arrives, whenever it arrives, and she increased the amount via text the other day by $100. Back in the spring when ***** contacted me at the school during the day while at the school where I teach 8th grade **** she was inquiring about SSI, have I heard anything, and she will need full payment soon, as she can't wait any longer. I reminded her that the arrangement is something that she established, and if it was an issue I would have never allowed Central Regional to release my sister to live there, and I said that day if she continues to hound me until SSI arrives, then I will take my sister out of her family care home after work that day, and she assured me that she would not do that anymore, and here we are. I wish that she would have been honest and transparent, as I would have removed my sister from the home that day instead of being backed against a wall with what feels like an ultimatum in which I feel like I have no choice but to remove my currently hospitalized sister during the holiday time so abruptly or pay the full price in January with such short notice. *****, the Director of One ****************** Home is unethical, callous, money hungry, and insensitive. She made an arrangement with me that she now wants to break, she slightly increased her fee, she has not checked on my sister recently who is still at *******, as the caregiver, she should have visited more than once and inquired about her health status more than once while my sister was in the hospital. She only inquired once and visited once after the first several days of my sisters month long hospitalization, and she needs to prorate any fee my sister had during her extended hospital visits twice while in her care at her family care home. ***** is unethical and I question her sincerity, quality of care, and qualifications as an owner and director of a family care home for the mentally ill. One time, she was telling me, on the phone, about my sister, who is schizophrenic and bipolar, saying something in her bad mental state about hospital workers having AIDS. My sister commonly does this due to her illness, as she makes untrue accusations and hears voices as a manifestation of her illness. ***** had the nerve and audacity to say to me, about my sister, what the h*** is wrong with you in her mind about my sister. At a later conversation with our father on the conference call, I confronted her about that rude and unethical comment.
