I had a plumbing accident back in May of 2021, I called IAT insurance group to file a claim. My whole bathroom was flooded we reached out to IAT again 2 days later and no one responded. I couldn't be left without using a bathroom so I called a contractor to come and fix it for us. Luckily they were able to give us an estimate and fix the problem. It's been 10 days later after the accident and I still didn't hear from IAT group. I receive a call and voicemail on July 1, 2021. 2 months later asking if someone had already fixed the water damage. Did they seriously think I was going to wait until IAT called me back 2 months to send a contractor? Which in fact they never even suggested it when I opened my claim on May 11, 2021. One year later I am fighting to get a refund, I send them proof of what we paid and even video of how bad the damage was, only to get a letter saying they denied my claim due to "we don't cover wear and tear and we have a contractor who can do it for cheaper" I seriously ask that you put yourself in my shoes we have been paying our insurance, I did my due diligence by fixing the damage myself since I didn't hear back from anyone until 2 months later. (I have proof that even when I did get ahold of someone they never answered my emails or calls) this is unfair and no one deserves to be neglected like this specially since we are entitled to coverage.I don't understand how we didn't even get at least partial coverage. I would like to know the name of the contractor that would do the job for cheaper. With inflation right now and the way these prices keep going up, he must be getting a discount somewhere along the line. We had over 3 contractors come out and tell us the job was more than $8K. Thankfully we found the guy we did that was able to work with us. I would like to be contacted by IAT insurance group for this matter as to why my refund or even partial refund was denied.

On October 21, 2021, I was notified that, in 2017,***************************** refunded an insurance payment. Well prior to that alleged occurrence, also about which I have a lot of questions, I attempted to terminate coverage, and, during that process, provided evidence, which was optional, that different coverage, paid to and provided by a separate company, had been secured. The method of payment, a credit card in that case, had initially been provided to a Landlord; an agent of some kind for Occidental. On December 10, 2021, I emailed a packet, which, among other charts, letters and other notes and communications, contained a list of six (6) question-topics regarding the same matter to a subsidiary of IAT. I have not heard back.

My neighbor had a fire in her home in January 27, 2021. My home suffered damage as result. The siding at the back of my home melted. She had initially stated she would pay out of pocket for my damage but did not keep her promise . I then called IAT insurance and put a claim in. The adjuster determined that I was entitled to $7922.07 minus a $2500.00 deductible . I was told in December 2021 that a payment was sent to my home that I never received . I followed up with the adjuster on 1/10/22 a was told a stop payment will be placed on the first payment and a second check would be immediately sent to me. I still have not received any payment . The claim it was sent via *** or ***** but can't provide a tracking number. When I contacted *** and ***** and was told that there us nothing in there system for any mail to my address. IAT insurance claims there my be an issue with my address but all there other correspondence makes it to my home. I am being given the run around.

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/01/28) */ Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. IAT received the claim on 11/15/21 for siding damages to the home from a fire from the neighbor's home on 1/27/21. Insured thought the neighbor would pay for the damages, however, they did not, so a claim was filed with IAT. After an inspection, payment was processed on 12/22/21. Insured called and explained she did not receive the payment as the wrong address was listed. Another check was issued on 1/10/22 and we gave a tracking number. However, this check was returned by ***. We once again reissued another check on 1/26/22 to the insured and will provide the tracking number as soon as it is given to us. The IAT Adjuster is in contact with the insured on this matter.

Our home suffered damage in Hurricane ***. After an initial inspection, a check for about $17,000 was issued, with the expectation that we would submit for additional damages once the mitigation company had done their inspection. We went through that process, working with Cross Country Adjusting, and it was maddening, but on October 26, 2021, we were issued a supplement letter on IAT letterhead from Cross Country saying that a supplemental check had been issued for $28,375 and change, and that we should receive it within 14-21 days. Acting on the adjustor's approval of contractor quotes, we went ahead with the water remediation and build back of our house, which was completed this week. The check that was due no later than November 16 has not arrived. I called on December 2nd and was told it was still pending review by IAT managers but that they would give it expedited treatment, sending it out 2-4 days after approval. I called back on December 6th and was told the same thing, that approval was imminent. It's December 13th. I just called IAT again to check the status of the check and I was put on hold for 33 minutes before the call was simply disconnected. All signs point to an intentional delay to systemically keep funds in their account longer. I have a contractor and a roofer breathing down my neck for overdue payment, and it looks like IAT is trying to delay this into the new year.

Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2021/11/22) */ I am responding to your November 8, 2021, inquiry concerning the above consumer. The endorsement sent to the consumer advised "We are endorsing a Liability Condition Surcharge to your policy. If this condition is corrected within 90 days from the date of this notice, we will remove the charge as of the date originally added. If the correction is made at a later date, the charge will be removed as of the date the proof of correction was received and approved by us". It is not our standard practice to reinspect homes to determine if conditions have been resolved. We would not know if conditions were resolved unless notified by the consumer or producer. Took out home owner insurance with ********** fire through ******** in august 2020. An inspector came to our home and found a dry we were donating to charity at our basement door. we then received the attached letter on September 18, 2020 There is no mention in this letter that I was responsible for taking a picture and sending it as proof of correction. I have worked as an insurance inspector and it was my job to return to a property and inspect and take picture of corrections. Lacking instruction to the contrary from*********** Fire, I took this letter to mean they were going to reinspect our property. I noticed the surcharge had not been refunded at the time our policy was set to renew and the agent (********) I spoke to said to send in proof of correction. I did, but it turned out the email address I was given was incorrect. I spoke to several other individuals and got several different excuses as to why I wasn't receiving a refund. Ultimately I was told that my request had been denied. I corrected the issue within the 90 days. If*********** Fire was expecting me to provide proof of correction there is no mention in this letter of this expectation. The amount of money involved here is not monumental, but*********** has a duty to communicate clearly and unequivocally with consumers. That is the principal in question here. Further, the letter also states that proof of correction submitted after the 90 days will be accepted for a refund as of the date they receive such proof. To date I have had no explanation as to why they denied my refund...just a statement that my request was denied. Perhaps it's because I cancelled my policy with them after all this. This is a shady business practice and I have also filed a complaint with the ****************************

Our house flood happen in April 28th, 2021. Our insurance adjust is *****************. We are appalled at the lack of communication by her and the IAT team. We have contacted IAT over 40+ times in the last two months of attempting to receive our recoverable depreciation. We have had our entire house ripped apart, lived in a hotel for 3.5 months, and dealt with this embarrassing insurance company. Once we call AIT, you give them your name and they say they will call you back in 3-5 business days. Not once has that happened. We are beyond furious and exhausted with AIT. We simply want our recoverable depreciation AND to close the case. Our next step WILL be a lawsuit. We want this resolved immediately.
