There was a previous complaint on this forum regarding the long wait and no communication. The response from the business indicated that work should start towards the end of April/beginning of May. It is now June 23, 2022 and there has been no communication from the company regarding our project, we are beyond frustrated and would like our deposit returned to us. We signed a contract in July of 2021 to have a ******** room added to our home. We were told work would start in Nov. Work never started. I contacted Dream spaces and was told our materials would not be delivered until the end of the month. I contacted the company again in Dec. as I had no contact from them. I was told they would start work on Dec 11. Work never started. I again contacted the owner and was told they would wait till after the holidays and start at the beginning of January. Work never started and I have had no contact from the company. I have been phoning but continue to get an answer message, I have left a message requesting the return of our deposit. We paid $6163.00 in July 2021.

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/02/22) */ We are trying as hard as we can to get all jobs sold in 2021 completed. We have had a really hard time with covid (2 rounds affecting our installers in December & January), supply chain issues and employee retention. Our crews have gone from 4 down to one in Late December and left us 5 open jobs to be completed by 3 people. We have another employee returning next week to give us 2 full crews. We will hopefully complete the open jobs in the next 4 weeks, then we have 3 jobs that were sold in May & June to complete, then we will be on to your job. Please give us a few months to catch up and get to your job, we will take some money off of the final payment to compensate for the delays. I am truly sorry for the delays and the communication issues. Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/03/01) */ Thank You for responding to our complaint. From what I read in your response we should be looking for work to start in approximately 2 months. Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2022/03/01) */ I am hoping to start the end of April beginning of May at the latest.

On April 23, 2021, my wife and I entered into a contract with Dream Spaces, LLC to install a new deck and a sunroom on our home. *** assured us that the project would be consistently worked on and would be complete within 2 to 3 months. We explained that we had custom siding that would be needed to be ordered from the original and he agreed to handle it and assured us not to worry The completion time frame was extremely important to us due to us refinancing our home. Upon receiving the down payment *** ceased communicating with us on our project. We would have to contact him numerous times and if he responded or answer our calls he would make an excuse of why he had not consistently worked on our project. ***'s crew would show up without confirmation, notification of work done, and work leaving construction material and project hazards unsecured. We addressed the importance of communication and the timely completion with *** or with his crew's project manager. In December 2021, 4 months after the assured completion time frame, ***'s crew finally installed the sunroom framework. When he asked for the next scheduled payment, my wife and I discussed with *** our financial burdens of prolonging the project and our frustrations from his misleading service promises and lack of honesty on time frames. We came to an agreement of a 10% discount, equalling 3,000 dollars and *** reassured us our project would be complete within two weeks. In February 2022 the project and two others working on our project noticed that they had attempted to cover the damaged part of our siding with a fabricated cover. I addressed that that is not what we agreed upon. I later talked to *** about the concerns of the project again and he told me that he was "losing his shirt in this deal" and was going due what he felt to complete the project. He also stated that would prolong my project longer when I addressed the financial hardship the prolonging of the project has placed on my family.

      Business response

      02/22/2022

Business Response /* (1000, 7, 2022/02/22) */ I agree we entered into a contract with the homeowner, but on May 6th 2021. We signed the contract to tear down deck & replace and build a sunroom. Since the work began we have had several delays beyond our control. 1)city of ******* inspections for soil inspection which took 10 weeks. 2) having to redo work because their dogs tore work apart when we were not onsite, that we replaced not asking for any other money. 3) employee retention. We went from having 4 crews down to one. Trying to complete several jobs at once. As far as the siding we have told the homeowner to get the siding and we will replace since it is not in the contract. This has been over 4 months now and he wants us to buy the siding even though his siding is not damaged. We are willing and able to complete the job with an ac unit & the screens ( which we have in our office. We are asking that the homeowner pay gaff the remaining balance before we complete the work, since we have had 2 bounced checks and do not feel confident that we will get the remaining balance from them. I have documentation & pictures of the damage caused by the dogs. Consumer Response /* (3000, 14, 2022/03/22) */ The issue we had was my families leaving space turned into 10 month construction site when**** contract stated it would only take 13 weeks.**** did not communicate secure concrete that was poured as a foundation so we did not knew that the concrete was pour until we saw our dogs had stepped into it.**** refused to comply with inspectors instructions of depth of foundation so several inspections were needed. The two bounce checks happened but quickly resolved the when we found out through****. All the things**** mentioned does not justify him not communicating or honoring the contract agreement.**** never asked for half of the final payment and if he did I would not have given him until he completed the job per contract. He wanted me to buy custom siding that he damaged during construction. He was notified at the start the we had custom siding and said it would be not a problem to get and not to worry.**** was given an opportunity to complete from February 28, 2022 to March 4, 2022. On the five opportunity to complete my project, his crew only showed up two days. Just as times before,**** had an excuse that was supposed to fixed by Wednesday. On March 4, 2022 I received no communication from**** until March 22, 2022.**** can blame customers and ask for understanding but will not stop taking additional customers until he resolves issues with his existing customers.I have hired an electrician that found live uncapped wiring and repair a section of lighting****'s crew failed to repair, roofers who had to replace the unsealed section of roofing that****'s crew left exposed to the elements for months, and a builder to complete the final items we addressed with****. After finding out the work was complete**** left a message stating that he would seek to put a lien on my home if I did not pay him something. Only 3000 remained and was do at completion of the project.**** was given ample time to complete the project but failed too. The out of pocket expenditure to complete the project and to repair the damage done my home was well over the final payment. At the end, I lost confidence that**** would keep his word. From the findings of the electrician, roofer, and builder, I felt Dream Spaces were cutting corners that would of cost me in the future. Business Response /* (4000, 16, 2022/03/23) */ I am sorry this happened, as we explained to the homeowner, we had one of our vehicles broken into and approx $10,000 in tools stolen and needed time to get the required tools to finish the job. Unfortunately as we found out, our insurance did not cover the items that were stolen and when we did order the aluminium bending brake and went to the homeowners residence he told us that he had the work completed. This was not by any matter cutting corners on this project. We had a break in that was beyond our control and tried to finish the job, but with shipping it took 3 weeks to arrive at our business. I have a police report to collaborate my claim. Consumer Response In my opinion it should have not gotten to this point. My wife and I waited patiently for months and did our best to make sure that our project would be completed and hoped both parties would be satisfied. We were deceived on many occasions about when the crew would work and the emphasis on the importance of completing our project. *** has attempted to antagonize me over the phone about making us wait for my project to be completed even longer. After our last attempt to complete the project with ***, I realized that his actions and patterns were not going. Now leaving a message that he states he does not want to anything "crazy" to recieve a last payment when he did not complete the job and so many things had to be redone by other contractors. He also threaten to put a lien on my house if pay him something. The final 3000 dollars portion of the contract was all we did owe and it was due at the completion and final inspections of the project. If *** is so apologetic, why is trying scare tactics to persuade us to pay him in full for the he did not complete. We have copies of all checks totaling 26000 dollars. The 10% totalling 3000 dollars was agreed upon by and I the took the second to last payment from 7000 to 4000. Why *** now claiming we owe 10000 still and making suggestive threats?

Signed up for a sunroom and deck in April and was to be done in 2/3 weeks but did not even start till June and it's still not finished. The vendor is cutting corners and not finishing the job as per his contract . We have paid everything except for $1729 which is the balance after the work is finished . He does not even want to come and look at the work that has been done . We just want this done properly and them out of our hair . I will not recommend anyone to this company .

      Business response

      11/01/2021

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2021/10/19) */ We are sorry about the delays but most were from the vendors because of the pandemic. Midway through the build the customer changed the composite colors on the decking and the handrails. The handrail color needs to be custom ordered with a back order date of three months. We explained this to the customer and they wanted the back ordered color. The rest of the job is completed. Now today they wanted us to paint, which our specification sheet and our scope of work which were both signed by the customer, state that we DO NOT PAINT. We will be happy to complete this job as soon as the handrails are delivered, until then the rest of the contract has been satisfied. Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2021/10/19) */ We just want the job to be done properly and over with. We are not asking for anything more. We knew about the backorder of the rails but the inside job was still pending till now. We have been very patient till last couple of months. They stopped returning our calls and always had some excuse. They hired another sub contactor to finish some of the job. I did call them today and they said the rails should be in within two weeks and they will finish it then. They will finish painting too. Thanks you
