KGR provided the attached quote to grade and level an area for permanent greenhouse structures. After reviewing I requested a second site visit to voice a concern about the dimensions of the area we had flagged as it didn’t match with the dimensions on his quote. Kameron agreed to the area we had flagged off and said it wouldn’t change the quote. After the 2nd full day of work he requested we flag off where the drain channels will be where at that point we noticed the area was 20ft less than the needed 140ft. I also questioned why there hadn’t been a laser, transit level, or any measuring equipment used on the job. He said that would have costed extra? On what will have been the last day having already arranged for the dozer to be picked up, the moment he arrived he was verbally combative and demonstrably angry. There seemed to be no agreeable resolution available. Threats of legal action were thrown at us if we didn’t pay him even if the work remained incomplete. He again referenced the initial quote that contained the incorrect dimensions and stated that would be used as legal retaliation. With tensions at a boiling point we reluctantly agreed to pay him the remainder of the $12K on March 8 2022 as we felt backed into a corner and just wanted him off of our property. In the end we ultimately hired a second contractor to correct the grade, install drainage channels, and re-slope the edges to the best that we could afford. Since the site was left with inconsistent elevation grades throughout (over two feet of variance), to achieve one continuous flat surface the site would have to be entirely regraded from end to end. Unfortunately re-grading the entire site was outside of our budget so we settled on a tiered result having separate elevation levels. After three full days of work, the second contractor completed the grading work as he initially outlined and to our satisfaction. We are seeking reimbursement for the $3700 we paid to the second contractor.
