I took my 1998 ****** 4-Runner to Hutchinson Machine & Tool on 6/6/24, for brake work. The car was test driven by mechanic Johny Hutchinson & the issue was identified. The car was repaired & picked up on 6/13/24. The bill was $638.68 & I was told the car was test driven by three different mechanics & the brakes were fixed. I drove my car seven miles to my job & the brakes failed twice almost causing an accident both times. I immediately called Johny & was told to return the car. I was told the issue was the brake booster and would cost $350 for the part, not including labor. I picked up the car on 6/20/24 & was charged an additional $528.28 less a credit of $62.84 for an overcharge on the first bill netting a cost of $465.44. The wheel center cap for one tire was also missing. I had been without my car for two ********** was not fixed after the first weeks charges requiring another one week stay & an added $465 charge. Twice ***** said, I told my father the bill was too high. His father, ****** Hutchinson, owns the business. I also noted my odometer reading before & after *************************** car had been driven 72 miles. I discussed this with *********** claimed a car had to be driven excess miles to determine the problem. 72 miles is excessive. ***** said he would adjust the first bill, but his father refused. When I picked up the car, ***** said not to worry about it since I had a bad experience. I told him I would pay for the part but requested some adjustment due to the cost of unnecessary repairs done the first week, the inconvenience & the missing wheel cap cover. I spoke with ****** on 6/24/24 & he refuses to adjust the cost. He insisted the car required $638 worth of work despite not fixing the issue & required an additional week & cost of $465. In the end, the brakes appear to be working after the second week of repairs &, despite the mechanic ****** offer to adjust the bill, his father, ****** refuses. We were scammed out of $638 for unnecessary parts& labor.Customer response
