When deciding to attend ***, I was very impressed with the amount of *** Skin products listed on the school website to be included in the tuition. 2 kits were listed - One titled *** Skin Fundamental Kit, which I received on my first day of class. The second was called *** Skin Graduation Kit, to be issued after licensing. As required, I emailed *** a copy of my license on 6/2/23. After emailing the license, the owner, ****, told me she had already placed the June order, and my kit would come in July. I reached out to the school on 7/8/23 to check the status. I was told I was not on the order list and that I needed to fill out the request form, which I did on 7/11/23. Per the form, *** orders on the 15th of the month and shipping takes 3-5 days. I emailed *** again on 7/26/23 to check status. *** did not reply to my 7/26 email. On 8/2/23 I asked *** to let me know if there was a delay so I could update clients when chemical peel services would be available. I received an email back from *** on 8/2/23 stating that I would not receive my kit because of my excessive request for information. **** said the grad kit was a gift and not included in tuition - although it is listed on the *** website, as well as verbally promised. At no point was I or my classmates informed that this kit was a gift only to be given to students she chose. Had I known this, I wouldnt have enrolled in this program, as the promised kits were a big part of my decision. My emails with *** were not excessive, considering the limited information I was given and the failure of *** to respond promptly or accurately. *** engaged in false advertisement. I am seeking an apology from ***, and either my kit, or a mailed refund for the equal value. According to the *** Skin website, these items would cost me roughly $800.00, including tax. This request is fair as I have lost income from clients seeking chemical peels. The emails between myself and *** have been included in the attachments.

As advertised & per the ** ***** of ******** Arts as a Licensing school I am to provide students with the following items as a kit which are:

Draping, tweezers, spatulas, 1 mannikin, makeup, products and textbooks for instruction.

(See attachment) Per our website we advertise you will receive an Esthetics kit valued over $1000 Skin. I provide a PCA Fundamentals Kit products. Pivot Point Fundamentals of Esthetics Textbook. A Tool Kit, **** Kit,  ******** & 1 uniform. Which is above & beyond the minimum requirement as a ** Licensed Esthetics School. The cost charged to the student is $799.00 for these kits. Pricing is subject to change as well as items as price increases with vendors. Website advertise Esthetics kit is valued well over $1000. Students also sign off on receipt of receiving what they pay $799.00 to alleviate incidents as such which is placed in their board file (see attached blank Sign off) I also give students a graduation kit as a gift along with a graduation ceremony. Which is not covered in their kit price. (See website attachment)

Per my contract with PCA Skin as a partner school I sign off that I will not distribute PCA products for use to students who are not licensed. This is specifically in relation to the Graduation Kit that I gift (why its called graduation gift) to each student. They cant pay for these products in advance they are not licensed to use (See attached contract) The process in which I implement is that they have to provide license to me prior to me ordering a kit for them. I order monthly from my vendors. I also informed her that ordering will be completed the following month (July) after I returned from vacation July 17th. As our school was closed From June 26 (Graduation Day) until July 10th. I returned on July 17th. Due to excessive requests and lack of patience and sense of entitlement I chose not to gift it as its my choice to provide this to students. Not a requirement! And they certainly have not paid for it!

I will not gift a kit to this student or compensate for something that is a gift from me.  I have never had an issue with gifting anyone these kits or with them waiting to receive.

She can purchase a kit through us at our cost of $249.

Student Sign off form every student completes and they are put in their ***** file. Which states they have received what they pay $799 for. (See Attached)

Our partner contract that list the product restrictions and what we have to adhere to in order to stay a PCA partner school: (see attached)

Ordered all kits order date of 6/14 invoiced and shipped 8/2. New students are even waiting on their kit. (see attached)

      Customer response

      08/15/2023

I am rejecting this response because:

As stated previously, at no point were students notified that the graduation kit was a gift given at the schools discretion. This was 100% something I believed I would receive for attending this program, and influenced my decision. I was not initially given an exact order date, I was only told mid July and only reached out again because I was told by another student about the order form after I had spoken to Niya. The lack of information provided to me warranted the contact I made with the school. I am astounded that she considers this impatient and I believe I am being punished for the emails she received from another student who had the same issue. I could not reasonably believe the paper I signed at the beginning of school for items received included this specific kit, as I knew it was something I would not receive until after being licensed. The Shelby School of Esthetics is displaying poor business practice that I do not believe deserves a high BBB grade.

For the reasons already stated. I will not gift any item to this student, Once again I will not be bullied!
They can purchase the kit from me at my cost or they can purchase from their own PCA Skin account.
