On 5/13/2022 at approximately 6:30pm at the location *** ******* *** *********** ** ***** (Meemees, Inc.), I made a purchase for $22.86. I attempted to split the transaction payment between two separate cards putting $10.42 on my Visa Debit card and the remainder on a different card. When running my visa debit card, the store owner said it was declined. So I then completed the purchase using two different cards. When I returned to my car and checked my bank account, I saw that the first transaction of $10.42 had gone through and been debited from my account in addition to the payments from the other two cards. So my total for the purchase was $22.86 but I was charged $33.28 total between my three cards. I was owed a refund of $10.42. The store owner refused to give me my refund despite me showing him my transaction information from my bank on my phone. He insisted that the transaction for the first $10.42 had been declined even though the money was clearly debited from my account. In addition, on many occasions, I have witnessed the store owner selling individual Newport cigarettes to an individual while I was in line, which is illegal in NC. I have also seen him sell beer to someone who clearly looked underage and was not asked for ID.Business response

I received your a complaints about your credit cards issue, on that day there is no approved $10.42 transaction in my store , I contact ***** they handle our credit cards transactions,, and then I went back to the record on the end day on the same time And then I saw the transaction that transaction was A total of $22.86 , it was for 2 packs of cigarettes and $9 in gas , it was paid with 2 cards ,$9 was paid with card #****, $13.86 paid with card ends in#**** ,, if you provide me with a receipt or a bill from your credit card I am willing to handle , and by the way we don’t sell cigarettes or alcohol to minors in the store, I have included a copy of the general report of the hour of the day, we cannot control which card is approved which card is denied
