Placed an order on 8/23 with Carolina Farmstead for a table, hutch, and 8 chairs (2 armed, 6 armless). The total amount of the order was 5,791.19. We made a down payment of $4,068.75 on that date (Invoice #******* uploaded). We were told at the time that the order would be filled shortly after Thanksgiving. In mid November we inquired about the status and were told that there were delays but we could expect the order to be completed by the end of December (2021). We contacted them again on Dec. 17 and were notified that they could not complete the order and were shutting down the business. They informed us we would receive a refund either the last week of December or the beginning of January. We heard again from them (after several inquiries) on Jan. 10th and were told of more delays and the funds wouldn't be available until after Jan. 14th. As of February 22nd no refund has been received. We are also very annoyed to see on BBB that there have been refunds provided to other customers who have actually received merchandise, yet we can't even get our initial deposit back.Business response

Information from Consumer: 3/9: Carolina Farmstead did respond directly to me on Feb. 22. They did acknowledge the BBB claim. I was again promised a refund as soon as funds were available. This time I was told that they should have funds to refund my deposit on March 11. More Information from Consumer: The refund was received in full by Carolina Farmstead on 3/11. We ordered a table, 4 hardy chairs&2 hardy stools on 8-12-2021 , thru salesman **** *****. We paid the same day$$2764.83 on a **** credit card. We told him that we wanted the chairs to have contoured seats, all products to be made of reclaimed wood, smooth finish -just as a picture on their picture gallery- specific. Given an estimate of 8 -12 weeks completion. Communication with ****** ***** of the company was poor. We finally got the furniture on 12-20 -21, long time. The delivered table top was a much darker color than the legs , there is a long split in wood only 1" from the table edge. The chairs were not contoured, and the steel legs have large bumps of metal where they are welded. The breadboard ends, extend past the table boards. There is a very bad crack in the wood , near an edge. It is on top& bottom of the table wood. It is caused by 2 screws put close together & very close to the edge. This will eventually come apart and be ugly. This table does not look like a skilled craftsman made it , there has been no quality control due to all of the defects. When this was delivered, we pointed out all of the issues. The men told us they hear the same complaints all the time- they discouraged us from sending it back. This was a lot of money for a 68 year old couple. It is so disappointing to receive such poor quality. ****** has an answer that any problems come from the reclaimed wood- and you should accept that. We have offered to pick up the furniture and refund their money. They have accepted the offer. Consumer Response /* (3000, 8, 2022/01/31) */ We have agreed in email for the company to pick up the furniture and refund our money. This will need to be completed by Feb 7 as well. They had said they would pick up on Feb 1, but cancelled that this morning. Have said they will come yet this week, so we expect them. Consumer Response /* (2000, 12, 2022/02/07) */ ****** ***** had the furniture picked up and we were given a check for the full amount. We cashed the check today 2-7-2022 and received the money. it was settled with total agreement between parties.Initial Complaint

I ordered a farm table and 4 chairs on July 31, 2021. I finally received my table the second week in November after demanding it. Got 4 chairs that aren't mine, not stained just until they got me the ones I purchased for $900 in 2 weeks. It is now Jan 4th, I have sent 4 emails to ****** ***** and 1 to the company..no response. Called them tonight and I guess the phone number doesn't work!!! I want this resolved!! I paid $900 for 4 chairs I don't have. Give me a refund and I'll keep these or give me my chairs!!!Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 14, 2022/02/07) */ We are working with this customer to get these chairs completed and delivered as soon as possible. Several key members of our team have been dealing with very serious health issues. The delays and the slow communication were due to these health issues as we are a small company. We are working very hard to get back on schedule.
