I brought my car in with a seatbelt issue (the belt was locked completely retracted). The business did not originally inform me of a $120 diagnostic fee. Then told me it would be over $500 to fix the seatbelt by just replacing it. I went after hours and looked at my car and saw evidence that the seatbelt was never taken off to inspect it. (it was able to be fixed without replacing the whole seatbelt, they just didn't even check). They still wanted to charge me the diagnostic fee, even though I could see that they didn't do anything to diagnose the problem (didn't take it off to check it). Argued and their excuse was the tech that "diagnosed" wasn't there today. They wouldn't give me my keys without me at least paying half of the $120 fee.

Customer brought vehicle in for diagnosis of seatbelt stuck and not letting left rear seat up, Technician verified the customer concern, followed pinpoint test in ****************** workshop manual to verify function of seatbelt. Per pinpoint test workshop manual directed technician to replace seatbelt pretensioner. I contacted customer with quote for repair including $120 diagnostic fee, total repair was quoted at $507.27 customer then asked if we could just remove seatbelt so she could let the seat up, we informed the customer that we would not remove seatbelt as it is a safety device. Customer then declined repairs, when she was informed that there would still be a diagnostic fee she claimed we did not diagnose the vehicle and said she would not pay the diagnostic fee, when she arrived to pick up her vehicle management agreed to cut the diagnostic fee in half and customer agreed to pay $60.  We have sign posted next to the service department window with diagnostic fees for all vehicles regardless of make and model. I would be happy to provide pdf of workshop manual procedures for diagnostics.

I am rejecting this response because:

Technician did not remove seatbelt and attempt to fix the seatbelt. The diagnostic test that they charge 120$ for was to literally tug on the seatbelt.

The seatbelt did in fact NOT need replacing. It needed to be removed and the seatbelt loosened from the tensioner and then bolted back to the vehicle. I know this because I had a friend bring a few tools and help me fix it.

The technician and management must be used to just scamming women out of their money.
