I have been trying to cancel my membership, to no avail.My membership started on October 18th 2020 during Covid lockdown. I was VERY ADAMANT THAT I DID NOT WANT THE **** RENEWAL. My roommate *********************** was witness to this.They auto renewed anyway. I asked them what happens when I need to cancel and they said "either come in or call us." After January of this year we could no longer go to the gym due to my roommates work schedule and the fact that I am disabled and too blind to obtain a driver's license.Today I called and asked to cancel my membership and they told to come in to the gym and I replied that I am disabled and too blind to drive. They then put me on hold and when the girl came back she directed to iclub.net or .com to cancel. The website they sent me to is not affiliated with said WORKOUT ANYTIME and seems to be some sort of catch all cancel service that wants to charge me $50.00 to cancel.NO THAT IS ABSOLUTELY NOT ACCEPTABLE! I DID NOT SIGN A SECOND YEAR CONTRACT! THEY WERE NOT AUTHORIZED TO RENEW!I am not able to drive due to disability and the fact that they refuse to cancel over the phone amounts to disability discrimination. I was told there would be no hassle when the time came to cancel and well... That was a blatant lie. I am filing this with the hopes that they will cancel as I did NOT sign a second contract. If the they refuse to cancel I will have no other choice but to file an ADA **********Business response

******************** contacted us and requested to cancel his membership over the phone. As mentioned in the agreement signed by ********************, cancellations can be processed in the club anytime during staffed hours, by mailing a certified letter to the gym requesting membership be canceled or by logging into the website provided to ******************** when he called and completing the cancellation online. The agreement signed by ******************** also states that cancellations require 30 day notice. All members who cancel are required to pay any invoices remaining in the ***************************************************************************************** the agreement signed by ********************. To proceed with cancellation one of the above steps will need to be taken and cancellation submitted to the gym. This is the process for ALL cancellations. A signed copy of this agreement is available for review at any time.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because:I only signed a 1 year agreement and was adamant about NOT wanting auto renewal. So therefor, they need cancel my account.
I DID NOT SIGN AN AGREEMENT FOR A SECOND YEAR! The contract I signed was a 1 year contract. That was signed on October 18th 2020. My roommate was witness as he was my transportation. When I brought the fact they auto renewed me, without consent, I brought it up to a young blonde girl who was working the counter. She said since I completed my contract, that I could cancel anytime. Even if there is a policy of waiting to cancel and so forth, I should not bound by that policy as I DID NOT SIGN A SECOND CONTRACT!!!!!
It has been more than one year and they auto renewed WITHOUT MY CONTENT!!!!!

Member is still responsible for taking appropriate steps to cancel membership. As stated in my response, cancellations can not be completed over the phone. Information was provided to member to cancel membership. Also note, that member used the facility up until January which was outside of the one year commitment. That being said, he was aware that his membership was active after the year and he was still using. Please follow instructions given to cancel membership.
