My parking sticker was in my window shield. They towed my car inspection sticker and everything up to date. The sticker is set up where it's placed in the window and won't be removed. They obviously unlocked my door when my car was in their possession and removed my sticker and placed it on the floor on my car by te mat. My dashboard is deep so it wouldn't have fell on the floor. Two days later and the same sticker they claimed wasn't visible ia still there. They made me pay $27/5 to get my car back. They're known to do this right around the time when rent needs to be paid. Then the leasing office evict folks and won't let them get their possession.

On 1/24/24 Lizard Lick towed my car. They state that my registration was expired. I showed proof for registration. And they still would not allow for me to get my car.

Lizard Lick Towing is a MAJOR predatory towing company. I’m appalled by the amount of illegal towing they’ve gotten away with. They have spotters in their communities alerting them to things like cars that are parked ever so slightly on the grass. I’ve literally confirmed that by talking to one of the woman in the office. One time I asked to see pictures of my car as proof it was on the grass; they had hooked up my car and backed the truck up maybe 1 foot, then stuck their finger over one end of the camera and took a picture like that. When I told him this was crazy and I wanted to see the actual body cam footage, he got belligerent with me, slapping his hand against the wall and banging the door open and screaming at me and getting in my face. Never have I received such terrible customer service while simultaneously being illegally towed. In the past month, we’ve had three different cars towed from our complex. Since I’ve moved in here a few months ago, we’ve had our cars ( & our friends cars ) towed a whopping 10 times!! It’s absolutely ridiculous! Thousands of dollars all over the tiniest of reasons and there’s barely, IF ANY AT ALL, actual signage saying that your car will be towed for said reasons. They claim that a lot of their towing rules are something that residents signed up and agreed to in their leasing agreement; but what about people who did not sign the leasing agreement and therefore have never even seen it? How is that even relatively legal? I’m not complaining about the prices which are priced like every other tow truck agency, i’m furious that they’ve decided they’re going to prey on the lower income individuals that literally cannot afford to be paying these fees. You could be patrolling anywhere, and they claim they have over 25 different communities they patrol, but our cars are literally gone within 20 minutes of being parked. I have lieral video footage showing how quickly our cars are taken away. It’s absolutely appalling.

This company towed my car from my driveway on 5/26/2022 for expired tags I was not notified and my tags were in my car as I received them Tuesday and had not put on car due to rain i was charged 270 today to get the car back. If I had been told the car was being towed I could have given the driver my tags. I had to call police and then the towing company to find my car this is violation of the Nc predator law that states can’t be towed without owner permission unless ordered by city or police and can’t charge more than 100 and a statute that says car can’t be towed if less than 60 days expired I had to have my cousin pay for it and take me to get it The manager contacted my cousin by phone and argued he did nothing wrong and was not polite. Please don’t have him call her again I just want them to stop praying on poor people and think they can violate the laws

On the evening of December 2nd, 2021 I was visiting a friend for a party in *************. There are no posted signs regarding parking and I parallel parked across the street from her home on ********** Drive in front of 2 other vehicles. I was not blocking a driveway and there was no signage to indicate no parking. At around 10 pm my car was unlawfully towed without a warning to me or an opportunity to move vehicle. A neighbor told us a car was just removed and the company. I called Lizard Lick Towing and asked if my car was there , it was confirmed and I was told I parked illegally and no one could meet me to release vehicle. Finally someone agreed to meet and wanted to charge 150 USD. I explained there was no signage when he told me I was parked illegal. As this employee was rude and I was uncomfortable in a dark lot I offered a check which he refused. I called the sheriff's office who told me the issue was with the HOA, the employee then raised the price to 200 USD because "I was delaying him." I had friends on the way to bring me the cash difference when he then tried to raise the price to 300 USD at which point I told him he would not. When my friends arrived he then accused us of trespassing, sheriff's deputies arrived who were then able to let me know this predatory towing happens all the time in this neighborhood and they are unable to do anything about it due to HOA. I had to pay 200 USD to be able to leave in my personal vehicle.

Business Response /* (1000, 15, 2022/01/03) */ The vehicle in question was towed for being in violation of community rules at ************. The vehicle was parked in the street and there are signs at every entrance advising that any vehicles in violation of community guidelines will be towed. Normally we do not release at night time we release the next morning, however a manager was local that evening and took the call. The manager agreed to meet the customer at the lot and release the car for a set fee of $150 which is what all impounded cars from ************* are charged. He explained to the customer they would need valid ID and proof of ownership and at that time of night we could take cash a debit card or certified funds such as a money order made out to Lizard lick towing and Recovery. The owner agreed showed up at the lot and explain to the manager that the registration and her money was in the car pig the manager allowed her to access the car in order to retrieve her credentials and monies. When she accessed the car, she closed the door lock them crank the car up and tried to drive off the lot without paying her bill or showing us any documentation. The manager had another driver blocked the fence with a tow truck and explained to her she could not leave without paying. She was very adamant that she should not have to pay she did not feel that she was in the wrong even though we have signs posted at every entrance to ************. The manager explained to her that she would not be leaving without paying the bill and she tried to tell him that he was holding her against her will. He explained that she could leave at any time but the car could not leave until the bill was paid. She then called the Sheriff's Department who explained to her that it was a civil matter and would not even show up on the scene because they knew that she could not take the car without payment. At that point her two friends in her defense and started showing their tail along with her raising cane claiming we were holding them against their will (which again they could leave at any time but the vehicle had to be paid for before it left and we still had not seen any proof) were trying to take advantage of them. It was at that point the manger advises them there was no need for a seen they could all leave the property and come back tomorrow. It was at this point the car owner became severally irate and started cussing out the night manager, keeping in mind all tow truck has front and back camera and there is also camara's in the front and back lot and each employee including the night manger was wearing a body camara. Thus, all incidents including this one is recording with audio and video. The manger then advises the customer on camara that she was prohibiting him from doing his nightly duties of impounding vehicles. He advised her that if she and her friends did not leave immediately, he would asses $5.00 a min wait time to the bill. He would also call the sheriff to have them trespassed off the property. She Still refused to get out of the car and leave so the night manger contacted the sheriff dept. The Deputy came and advise her she could pay her bill or leave the premises. Upon this happening the wait time was at 31 minutes at $5.00 a min. which equals $155.00 in wait time, along with the $150.00 impound this would total $305.00. The night manger told police he would settle the for $200.00 and consider the situation closed. The owner of the car agreed, paid the money with the police on scene, she also provided prof of owner ship and then left. We were 100% within our rights to charge $200. We also did not have to discount the fee nor release the vehicle at night after hours, the vehicles owner was told by the police that she had to pay the fees. If she feels that we are in the wrong we welcome any and all court litigation, we have also included pictures of the signs that are at all entrances to all phases at *************.
