Our builder *** **** recommend Lisa Carlay Designs for our new construction. Lisa Carlay has scammed almost $8000 out of me and decided she didn’t want do the job for personal reasons and state of the industry. Initially she wanted $1000 deposit which we were happy to provide. On December 27, 2021 Lisa said she had a lot of time in the project and asked for another $6500 that would be applied to cabinet costs. She assured us that we would be able to take this cost off of our cabinet purchase. If we weren’t serious about purchasing our cabinets from her we would have never written the check and now I’m sorry I did. About three weeks later we got an email from her saying that we should go with someone else. Here is the actual transcript of exactly what she wrote us in her email. We have masked out the company that she recommended for privacy reasons. I would encourage everyone to find a reputable cabinet people not someone that’s going to take their money and not deliver. Here is the letter that she wrote me on January 19, 2022 “After evaluating my workload, the current state of the industry and personal obligations, I am going to step out of continuing with your project. I encourage you to follow through with my recommendation to purchase your cabinets from XXXXXXX in Mooresville. I believe this is the most expeditious plan of action and I am confident that they will supply you with great cabinets and customer service.” Written by Lisa Carlay. After taking my almost $8000 from my family. We had to do a complete redesign and we probably spent 35 or 40 hours with the new designer. We have lost not just money but time. Lisa knew well when she asked for the extra money that she was not going to be able to complete our project. This is wrong on so many levels. This is literally fraud!! She chose to walk away and in her email stated for personal reasons, I want a full refund of all money I have paid her.
