I had Anthony M***** (owner of Equity Home Improvements) come out to my house to give me a quote for the upgrade of 2 bathrooms. I wrote him a check, on 1/14/2022, for 50% of the cost which was $6907.26. He cashed the check and informed me he would order the supplies. He said it would take 8-10 weeks. I started to call him at 7 weeks and continued to call for a few weeks. He would NOT return any of my calls. I decide to take a ride to their office in Winston Salem. I looked in the window and it appeared very dusty with 2 desks and a computer screen that looked abandoned. I asked a nearby business if they had seen anyone there. They informed me that they had not seen anyone there. I then contacted the company that the materials was supposed to be ordered from and they informed me that he never ordered my materials. I have not heard back from him. I have filed a police report. ****** *******

On 8/19/2021 we signed a contract to get 8 windows installed. We paid for half the job and was expected to pay the rest at install. Estimated time for install was a verbal commitment of end of October middle of November. It is March 1 st and still no windows. We have only heard excuses that has been put on the manufacturer. We have had very few responses from the company and just want our windows installed. I don't feel we are being unreasonable by insisting that Anthony the owner call us back and tell us why it has been taking 7 months! We have been more than patient.

I met with Anthony of Equity Home Improvement to purchase a bathroom remodel. They were going to do a tub to shower add safety bars , glass doors, 3 shelves and 1 seat. Any rotted wood or bad pipes would be replaced. They were going to put in a floor and a vanity that I purchased. I pd $3307.00 down and was to pay $1653.50 when they scheduled the install and then $1653.00 when job was completed. They told me about 3 weeks out. The company never contacted me unless I contacted them. I was told production problem I understood that but I just asked to be kept in the loop. Weeks would go by and the same thing all the way to January 2022 when I finally got an email to do the install on the 12 th of January. So I paid the next amount of $1653.50 and waited no one came. I called they said maybe the 13th or 14th. But no show or call again. Monday the 17th I was told they would be here at 9:30 no call no show so now it was Tuesday again nothing. Wednesday came I get an email that will be here at 2pm. This is supposed to be a 3 day job. The 19th they worked from 2to 4. The same for the 20th 2yo 4. 21st 1 to 4. No show on Monday, Tuesday 2to 4 still not done and after seeing their work I have decided to do my own floor and plumbing and vanity. They put the new shower over rotted wood and it looks like a child cut the border out. They came on Wednesday and never started work because I got the final invoice and refused to pay that because they did not do the floor or the vanity and were very unprofessional. I now have to pay someone to do those things. They took my shower doors and the chrome safety bars so I can’t even finish my bathroom . I want the doors and bars back so I can pay someone to do the job. They didn’t even tell me he left.

In July 2021, I received an estimate for a new shower install in my Master Bedroom Bathroom. The shower was not installed until October 2021, with the excuse of Covid, Supplies and lack of qualified installers. I paid Equity Home Improvements 5,710.00 for a new shower. In early January we noticed a leak from the shower that is located over my Dining room area. The company sent the same person who installed the shower to repair the area in which the Person(Edward) stated after the repair(by the way the repair was a 2 day event. No one from the company bothered to call or even return my call as they where supposed to come and paint my ceiling. To this date 1/24/2022. I can't use my shower and I a damaged ceiling area which is an eyesore in my home. I have called more than 20 times no one will return my calls and I would either like a full refund or Equity Home improvements should provide a qualified installer to come and reinstall a new shower.

On 09/17/2017 Mrs. ****** entered a contract with Equity Home Improvements LLC to preform work to convert a tub to shower in the amount of $6,067.00. At that time Mrs. ****** was provided with and made aware of the Federal Three Notice Right to Cancel the Transaction physical, verbally and visually. At that time Mrs. ****** made a down payment on the project of $3,033.50.

While Mrs. ****** is entitled to all the rights the “Three Day Right to Cancel” provides her there was never any discussion of holding the check until the three days passed. When Mrs. ****** called to inquire about the check being deposited, I explained that regular business practice is to deposit all funds entrusted to us by a customer and not leave them lying around. I further explained that if she decided to cancel the contract as outlined in her right to do so, she would be entitled to a full refund whether the check had been deposited or not. She then decided to remain in the contract and the three days to cancel subsequently expired.

In reply to Mrs. ******’s 12/03/2021 verbal request to cancel the contract she was sent the following emails on 12/06/2021.

      Email # 1

We sent an email apologizing for the manufacturing delays during the global supply chain nightmare that we are all experiencing and assuring her that her order was in the process of being completed and asking her to be patient.

We attached a copy of her contract which contains the Cancellation Notice and further informed her of the options of cancellation as outlined in the contract and instructed her as to where to find the cancellation notice with instructions of how to complete the notice.

      Email #2

Mrs. ****** called later that day to say that she had not received the email that she had only received an additional copy of her contract. We then resent the email a second time and verbally instructed her to go to the last page of the contract and that she would find the “Notice of Cancellation”. She was further instructed how to fill it out and mail it in.
A blank copy of the notice was also attached to the email to make it even easier for her along with her options for cancellation as outlined in the contract.

      END

To date we have never received the notice of cancellation or a phone call to notify us of any problems receiving or completing the cancellation form.

Our office phone numbers have not changed and has never been out of service or unable to receive messages. We maintained two different offices in Winston Salem and are in the field in customers home more than we are in our clean never dusty offices.

On 12/12/2021 Mrs. ****** was sent a follow up email apologizing again for the global supply chain problems that have put us both in this uncomfortable situation and that has also created the difficulty in conduct business with each other.

The email then further explained that we have received information this morning from the factory that your bathroom will be ready to ship to us within the next 5 business days and that shipping usually took another 4 to 5 days and that her bathroom would then be installed promptly upon delivery to us.
The email explained that given her verbal communication of her intent to cancel but not following through with a cancellation form completed and sent to us we were unsure of how to proceed.
We then ask that she please let us know how she wanted to proceed as soon as you as possible.

      END

Since we still have not heard anything from Mrs. ******, we did not have the completed and paid for order shipped yet. If she wishes to continue in the contract, she may do so by informing us of her wishes. If she wishes to cancel the contract, she needs to complete the notice of cancelation and mail it to us. We will then promptly refund her any and all funds she is entitled to under the terms of the contract.
