Cole ***** gave me a reasonable price for labor only and I agreed to pay for all materials needed to reconstruct the floor at $100/hour for him and Matt. Cole required a deposit of $1,000 to get on his schedule and I paid that on July 22, 2022. Long horrible story short, when he finally arrived Oct 3, 2022 he was 3 hours late and he failed to bring many necessary tools, any replacement blades, and did not have any screws, nails, or even an extension cord... I had waited so long and he had started the job by the time I got home, when I insisted he get help and he said he would, I agreed to pay him the required $500.00 FIRST DAY of work deposit. I hired and paid my next door neighbor to help Cole remove debris from my kitchen when he got home from his job and they worked until 8pm. Day 2 Cole was 2 1/2 hours late with no helper. He did almost no work on day 2 and began questioning whether he was capable of doing the job he had twice looked at and given me the same confident quote. Cole spent most of the day looking for a new replacement tire and calling subcontractors instead of working at my home. I was horrified by the debris, dust, and mold/mildew in my home because Cole did not tape off any of the duct work vents and failed to hang a plastic barrier to protect the rest of the house. 3rd day I called him around 9am to hear him say he had just woken and had no help. This left me with an enormous clean up job and installing plastic barriers ON the open areas of my floor and covering them with plywood and sealing the gap between the walls and the floor, and I hung up a tarp to reduce infiltration into my home. At 2 pm I texted him requesting my $1500 deposit be returned for a job that should cost less than $3200, and that I would pay him for the less than 10 hours he actually worked, He claimed 17 hours of labor at $70/hour, including the time it took to put a new tire on his truck, the cost of the tire, and $150 for his "Free Bid" in an attempt to keep my deposit.
