I hired 3 workers to load a 26 foot u-haul. Morning of the move came and they arrived on time. Would you expect that they would show up with 2 wheelers or any form of dolly? Well, they did not. They came expecting to unload a u-haul - even though I said it was to load when I booked them. Either way, why would you not have any dollys to unload a truck?? So, the one worker had to go all the way back to Winston to pick some up - of which took well over an hour. During that hour, I had 2 guys moving box by box to the truck. At the end of the move, I still paid for the time for 3 workers - I did not say anything. I should have - I mean, not only should the job have been prorated for the hour that I had 2 workers - but also prorated because during that that hour, the two workers were extremely inefficient. Oh yea, I even tipped them $140!! I provided a set of 14 brand new ratchet straps for them to stabilize the boxes throughout the truck. They used 3!! When I had my unloaders at my new place unload the truck, they were in shock of the lack of care that was given for all of our belongings. I had 2 desks that cost me over $500 destroyed. The furniture was placed within stacks and stacks of boxes - that collapsed due to not being stabilized. When I reached out to the company - there was ZERO empathy - only a response of - "Sir, you signed a contract prior to your move rereleasing AMH from any liability to your shipment and that they only are liable when the shipment is in there full custody." I mentioned multiple times about the straps not being used and also mentioned about the issue around not having any dollys at the start of the job. Did not receive anything at all back from them on why...

After we loaded your Uhaul, you left a glowing five star review on Google. You even contacted our office to tell us how wonderful of a job our crew did. You were there the entire time and you witnessed the work that they did. You, at any time, had full option to review your load and their completed work. As for the hand dollies, those are not included in labor only jobs. Hence the name of the jobs “labor only” that does not include any equipment. As a courtesy, we went back to pick up the handtrucks at your request because you did not have them on your truck as we instructed you to do before you scheduled your move. We told you that you needed handtrucks, blankets, and ratchet straps. Again, those are not included in our hourly labor only rates. Now, that you have made it to Florida, in your own rented U-Haul, that you drove, and having a completely different moving crew unload, you are now reporting back damages. When we do a labor only job, we do not cover any liability of the shipment because we do not have complete care custody control of that shipment! We do not know how you drove, or how anything was unloaded. We cainnot take responsibility for items that we did not have complete control over. If you had such an issue with us at the beginning of the move, then you should’ve said that, however, all your feedback to us was completely the opposite of what you are now reporting! My suggestion for you in your future moves is to hire someone to do the entire move so that company can take responsibility and liability for the entire move. I do not know how you do not understand this! And are now demanding special treatment, despite having signed a contract prior to us touching your first item, waving us of liability for your shipment. This was also discussed to you in detail when you scheduled your move.

Yes, I unfortunately decided to submit a review prior to having the truck unloaded. That was my mistake - I should have waited. Yes, had the workers been able to be more productive, I probably could have been able babysat them more on how everything was being loaded. But, since I spent a majority of the morning (along with my wife), assisting in moving boxes to the truck, it didn't happen. That is a lie - no one informed me that I had to provide hand dollies. I provided 3 dozen furniture blankets and 14 brand new ratchet straps out of common sense. While your one worker spent over an hour getting hand dollies - I asked one of your workers why you didn't bring dollies. His response was "they must have forgotten - no idea why they didn't bring them" You say you can not take responsibility over items that you didn't have complete control over? You did have control over how they were loaded and secured! Not once in your response did you give any form of response of why with the supposed ratchet straps that you said I had to provide - only 3 were used and ELEVEN left unused? I have no doubt that if multiple straps were used to secure multiple sections of the load, I wouldn't have had this horrible experience. Again, YES I provided a good review in the beginning - the workers were nice and I excused the mistake of not bringing dollies. Again, had I waited to see how my truck was loaded so carelessly, you would have never seen a positive review. Also, you say I am demanding special treatment?? NOPE - simply acknowledgement that perhaps utilization of the additional 11 straps that I provided would have better secured my belongings. I am past the point of caring if you want to make this bad experience right - it's beyond the point of caring about being compensated. I simply want to inform anyone looking for movers in the NC Triad area - to avoid this company - they are inexperienced and unless you have the ability (during what is typically a very demanding and stressful time - moving) to sit and watch them load every item into the truck and secure said items - avoid using this company. They will hide behind lies when confronted with less than desirable work. Last, you suggest I handle moves differently in the future - not necessary - I have gone this route multiple times over the past 15 years - never have I seen a company with a lack of care in admitting fault and making it right.
