Possibly could cause health issues. I have been dealing with cockroaches in my apartment on and off for 3 years. They come treat it and they are always there. I see at least 1 or 2 a day in my bathroom. I have seen them in the laundry room and in the hallways of the apartment building. I emailed them Sunday 1/1/23 to tell them i found another one and that they need to treat everyone's units and hallways and laundry room or they will never be gone. No response this time. Rent keeps going up but they won't fix the cockroach issue. There is an infestation somewhere in the building and it needs to be dealt with. What are the laws about not paying rent until issue is fixed? Or breaking the lease early. I have a 5yr old girl and worried about her being in this situation. I also put in a work order for them to fix my patio door in mid November because the handle is completely broken off and can't lock my door and they never sent anyone to fix it. Just would like to have them be accountable for not making sure residents have a healthy and safe environment to live in! Please get back to me at your earliest convenience.****Business response

We received a maintenance request from the tenant 1/1 about feeling there is a larger issue of roaches in the building. We have had numerous exterminators in the building numerous times throughout the last year and all have concluded the same thing: the roaches seen or just one or two here and there and any of the units they have treated are not infested and are not the origin. All tenants received notice 1/3 that maintenance would be going into every unit on 1/5. It was not specifically stated that maintenance was visiting for roaches but that is why we scheduled the visit. Today is 1/5 so there is no update yet on finding an origin.
Her patio door handle broke about a year ago. It was also replaced a year ago. Her new maintenance request submitted 12/1 stated that this new one is now loose again. This was a low priority work order as with the beginning of winter we have been busy with heat, roof, and snow issues. However, this should be addressed by mid month at the latest.
This tenant has renewed her lease yearly since 2019. The current lease ends 4/30. We encourage her to contact our office if she wants to discuss ending her lease.
