When originally corresponding with Prairie Moon Landscaping through contracting with them on a large patio project, our initial thoughts were very positive. During the project, it became known that they underbid the estimate and were running over on labor. Learning they were a family business and with finish date pushing into early winter and the Christmas holidays, we paid them almost $10,000.00 more then their proposal so their families would not be hurt financially going into the lean winter months. Some issues arose with the installation and we made contact to have those corrected under warranty along with some additional landscape work we had requested. Although delayed several months, the additional work along with a limited amount of defects were corrected. A bill for the additional work was received and a check for that work was written the same day with correspondence sent via email the check was ready for pickup upon their return to correct the defects. After a month delay, three of the family members all in their late 30's / early 40's returned to our home. My husband who was home alone, started detailing the defects needing completed. Two of the owners became very agitated about being made aware of the problems which turned very aggressive and confrontational. Sarah and one of her brothers began shouting my husband down who at this point could no longer get a word in and demanded to be paid. Given the check had been written over a month ago and was just inside the door he retrieved it with hopes that would cool their tempers. Given we are senior citizens and he was facing much younger aggressive / unreasonable individuals, my husband at that point felt threatened so retreated indoors with assumption they would address the other warranty items. Within several minutes, the three went to their vehicles and departed without correcting anything. Be leery of first impressions with these folks for they are not what they first portray.
