We asked Walk Your Paws While you Work to watch our two dogs during vacation, one with late stage degenerative myelopathy, which they were informed of. We had a containment area and the sitter said our dog was escaping some. After they asked, we agreed that if they were more comfortable leaving him out that's fine, but they would be expected to clean the carpet with the carpet cleaner if the dog had an accident. I told them to just throw whatever in front of the gate to keep him in the containment area as an option. The only insecure section of the fence was the gate where they walked in and out of (the dog literally cant use its back legs, its not that hard to block). We went out of our way to buy foam pads, pee pads, diapers, an additional water bowl, and the fence to create a comfortable containment area. I also sent carpet cleaner instructions, which I took the time to type out on my vacation. We were not only inconvenienced by not being able to use our basement because it's not safe to breathe, after proactively planning and spending money to ensure something like this didn't happen, but they also let our dog sit in pee soaked diapers until his fur was stained, he had a UTI, and a rash. We also had to pay a vet bill and our poor dog (who's already handicapped) suffered. I have text messages I have screenshotted instructing the dog sitter if the choice was made to leave the dog out, the accidents were to be cleaned. I have texts from her agreeing to deduct the cost of the carpet cleaning prior to insurance. We had to go through the process with her insurance for MONTHS to get our basement fixed and when we finally got it fixed, Ms. ********** sent us an invoice. We paid for her to watch our dogs and the result was our home was 1/3 unlivable for 5 months and had to put our dog down the very next month (we believe his condition was worsened and he got depressed during their care expediting his passing). We will not be paying for a service we did not receive.
