Putting this out here about Jakes Odd Jobs so I can save others the troubles and hassles I had to go though with them. Jake give me an estimate to frame a roof with cedar beams, sheet and shingle the roof including flashing and gutters over our cedar deck that I just recently built myself. Got an estimate from him at $********* verifying everything increased to $********* which I agreed to and signed. Jake wanted down payment of half the invoice to secure the job and help buy materials, that was not a problem and we gave him a check. After that Jake started having all kinds of issues and delays with finding material, ordering material, and when it came time to start working on the project, wrong materials came in, he orders again and since he has to wait on the materials to come in he starts on other project with different clients which extends my project another 2-3 weeks, this happened many times and months went by like that. I personally had to go and find and buy shingles that matched our house because he could find them himself and many other excuses. Time went by around 4-5 months they finally started and finished the project. I received a final invoice which was an increase by a $****** which was ok because we wanted to add a post for support and looks. I payed the remaining balance within a couple of days as we agreed to. About a week and half after I payed the full price that I agreed to, I get another bill **% more than what we agreed to, an extra $******* and he said if we pay by due date then he'll give me **% off. Jake did not inform me in any way or form stating that the project was going to cost me that much extra. Jake stated he's charging extra for upgrading treated to cedar lumber and that wasn't quoted on the original quote, and other things.
