On or about 3-11-24 we had GVPH install a tankless hot water heater. That install went ok. After a couple days of use, we were not satisfied in the performance. We called GV back to resolve a flow restriction and heating issue. Their tech thought there was not a problem. I indicated that I thought there was a flow restriction due to the install. He removed a valve that they installed with the tankless and that seemed to solve the flow issue. As far as the temperature issue. When we ran the hot water only and were not satisfied to the temperature received. He adjusted the heat on the tankless and that seemed to solve the problem to date. He ran his tests and said we had a couple of lavatory faucets that had some residue. He also indicated that there was a couple of stem valve cartridges that probably needed replaced. He then went to his truck to talk to someone to get an estimate of what the replacement would cost. He came back with an estimate of $1550.00 to replace those. I thought that was extremely high and told him I would do that myself. I called their Manager (Tara) on or about 3-18-24 and expressed that I thought that charge to replace 2 valve stems was extremely high. I found those valves costing $14.40 each and with shipping for 2 valves would total $40.00. That would put the labor for 1/2hrs worth of work well over $1000 per hour. I further told here that if it were my mother, who is 93, she may have been taken advantage of. She said she would look into that. She called me back a couple hours later and explained that that would include replacing the entire faucet system in both bathrooms. That WAS NOT what I was told by the tech. She then said that she would look further into the situation and get back to me. Have not heard from her since. I replaced those valves myself in 45 minutes for less than $50. I have to wonder if others have been taken advantage with this practice.Gering Valley Plumbing & Heating, Inc. Response

Hi Rich, we appreciate your feed back and I do apologize that we did not meet your expectations. And thank you for taking the time to talk to us again yesterday. As we went over the estimate that was provided for the $1550. Was for New Faucet, New Supply Line and New Emergency Shut off for two bathrooms. Understanding now that was not what work you were wanting done and you were just looking to have the stems replaced in the faucet. That would be a different price for the material and services. I hope that we were able to explain and answer all of your questions. And if you have any further questions please reach out to us at the office. Justin came to our home to remove an old water softener and turn an outdoor water source from soft water back to hard water—he will have to return with more help to get the old water softener out due to it being so heavy but was able to get the rest of the work done. He was very respectful and even put shoe covers on to protect our floors! He did a great job and answered all of our questions!Gering Valley Plumbing & Heating, Inc. Response

I am leaving them one star as everyone deserves one. I have been a customer of this business for over a dozen years and spent thousands of dollars in service and purchases over these years. Yesterday (Friday) my furnace (which I purchased from them and which they inspected pre-winter) malfunctioned. We are talking mid-winter in Nebraska where only recently the temperatures dropped to below zero. When I contacted them they told me they could not send a technician (to even diagnose the problem) until the next Friday leaving my home without a heat source for 7 days. Are you kidding me??? IN WINTER!! Do you realize the hardship this would cause? Either they don't work overtime or they don't have enough employees to meet the needs of their customers. They couldn't care less that I was a long-time customer who spent thousands with their company. I contacted a competitor who sent a technician within two hours and the problem was fixed. I had no heat for a few hours rather than a week (a company who cared). GVP's response to my need was unacceptable and they lost a customer with deep pockets.Gering Valley Plumbing & Heating, Inc.
