Avoid at all cost! I paid over $2000 out of pocket for scleral lenses. I was told at time of purchase that if it ended up I could not be fit properly for them, I would receive partial credit. They didn't work out because I ended up needing a prescription that is not available in contacts. When the time came for me to use said partial credit I was told no credit was owed. They changed their minds three times on why no credit was owed. No real reason was given. The Dr that prescribed them is now gone and the rest of the staff that was aware of the fact that there should have been a credit is not speaking up.Review from Kris G

The people here are nice (an the only reason I’m giving them 3 stars instead of 1). However, their computer system has made appointments for me, without my permission or consulting me, on three separate occasions. The first time I didn’t find out about it until after the appointment. Luckily, they didn’t charge me a no-show fee for it. I was assured that it wouldn’t happen again after the second time. It happened again this past Monday. The person I spoke to said it was a “pre-appointment” (whatever that is) and was able to cancel it. This is really weird and stressful. I’m not planning on going back.Review from Amy D.

I had an eye exam over 2 months ago. I still have not received my contacts. Through a series of incompetent mistakes and horrible communication, they have just given excuse after excuse. If I hadn't already paid for these contact lenses (which my insurance only covers one pair per year since they are gas permeable), I would have told them to take the contacts and shove it. Unfortunately, I am stuck with this incompetency until I finally get my correct contacts. I will NEVER go back here again and I recommend that you save yourself your own frustration and use anybody other than this eye care place! They are the worst service-based business I have come across in a while.Eyecare Specialties Response

I am in my 70's. My wife and I have been patients at Eyecare Specialties on O Street for probably 20 years. We have never had any issues with them. They have always been very thorough with the examinations and Dr ********, who we see now just as with our previous Dr has always been very professional. We both are diabetic, I have a glaucoma screening every year as well as retinal screening and they have always paid attention to my condition and when there was some concern, I was referred to a specialist to make sure things were ok. And we have never had issues with office personnel either. That might change tomorrow but I have no problem recommending them to anyone needing an Optometrist.Review from Ryan S

Did not explain a diagnoses properly beyond a scratch on my eye. They told me I just needed bifocals but no rush to return for the exam as needing them and not wearing them would not make my vision worse either way - welcome to 40. They did not explain the condition they diagnosed me with could be and usually is linked to underlying disease, they did not tell me the condition they diagnosed me with if left untreated could lead to permanent damage. Im over 40 years old and have been in pain the majority of my life, undiagnosed and untreated. I recently received a diagnosed with a disease that is directly related to the condition this office diagnosed me with. When I received a doctors referral to have my eyes checked they belittled me for not returning sooner as it was somehow my fault they didnt explain their diagnosis properly. They also told me they did not have to release my medical records from their office directly to me, only to my physician or ssdi and they are required to free of charge under law per the patients request. They really made me feel unsafe to continue to be their patient or allow my children to be treated there either. I was treated so unprofessionally, and unethically. They gaslighted me and treated me like I was mentally incapable of knowing why I came into their office last year. Horrible feeling knowing they care more about belittling me during that phone call than they did finding out about my condition, if and how its progressed, and actually scheduling an appoint to treat me.Review from Harry L

I received the following voicemail from eyecare specialties. I will no longer do business with them due to deceiving practices. As you can see in the voicemail I was offered 40% off my eye exam if I scheduled before March 20. I completed my exam March 14 and expected 40% off my bill when I paid. I was told there must of been a misunderstanding, the 40% off is only if I buy eye glasses. Very deceiving practice.

Our apologies for the misunderstanding. While our promotion is for eyeglasses, we in no way want to mislead our patients to believe something else. Our team has been coached on verbiage to be sure our message is clear as to not have any further misunderstandings. We would be happy to refund any difference to meet the 40% off promotion that you were expecting. Received a call from eyecare specialties on 3/30. My eye exam charge was $138.40. The nice gal on the phone indicated my 40% discount would be $15.40. Things that make you go HMMMMM.. Life is too short, time to move on.Eyecare Specialties Response

Patients without insurance are provided with a self pay discount at day of service. Since it was less than the 40%, the O St. office went ahead and refunded the difference from the self pay discount and the 40% off for exam. Please feel free to contact the Pine Lake location with any additional concerns.
