Took my mower in for a tuning and to fix the self-propelled. On arriving home and just starting the mower it still had issues with the self-propelled. After I brought it back in they serviced it, working normally but they claimed it happened after their service. I had just started it, had not mowed at all. They clearly do not do a full inspection of their work before calling it done. I highly recommend testing the mower prior to taking it out of their sight otherwise they will say you messed it up instead of standing behind their work. Their customer service was terrible, they have a customer is always wrong mentality and handled the situation poorly. If they had owned up to their mistake and fixed it on their own I would've considered continuing to use them but being treated like shit means I'll go anywhere but there in the future.

I purchased a brand new ****** push mower from them last April. It ran perfectly all summer long. I took back to them in February to do annual maintenance. I tried to use it for the first time last week (April 27th) and a belt broke before I even mowed a strip of lawn. I called Small Engine Recycling & Repair and let them know what happened and the owner told me no problem, we will take care of it. Just bring it in. I dropped it off the next day. He said give him a week or two and it will be ready. He did not mention anything about charging me for any repairs. I picked the lawnmower up today 5/4 and turns out, they charged me for the repairs $165. Not only that, but they did work that was not discussed and charged me for that as well. Instead of replacing one belt, they replaced two belts "Just to be safe". Again, the owner said they would take care of the belt when I called him - as if they would cover it because they just serviced the lawnmower. It's extremely frustrating and very unprofessional. And the cherry on top was when I picked it up, there was a huge scratch down the side of the base of the lawnmower. That will rust unless I take it home and paint over it. These people are very unprofessional and their communication is poor. I would suggest you go somewhere else for all our small engine purchases and or repairs.

I never mentioned warranty anywhere in my complaint. The owner acted as if they would take care of it for me because they just serviced it. This has nothing to do with warranties, it has to do with integrity and communication. Along with some professionalism and business etiquette. I understand they are a small family owned shop, but their level of customer service & ability to communicate is seriously lacking. Had the owner mentioned this would be chargeable and the estimated cost will be between $150 - $175, I most likely would have ordered the $30 belt myself and did the work. It's not that difficult to do. Not only that, but they replaced two belts and charged me for that as well when we did not discuss that at all. They said it wasn't broke but figured they would replace it just in case. What type of company does that without consulting the paying customer first?
