Flat roof renewed and Family Room Ceiling Repair In 2019 Mr. ********* was supposed start in the summer, he kept putting us off and then he came late fall. I have pictures to send to show what the roof and ceiling look like. We have tried to reach out to Mr. ********* on numerous occasions and always the same answer. He said b/c of covid he couldn't get the materials and was waiting for them. The last text message from him was that he would be over in a week. That week turned into months once again. Our roof looks lide a hundred yr. old roof and the celing leaks, he came two weeks before Christmas and cut a big hole in our ceiling and said he would be back. I messaged him on Sept. 9th and said he missed some very hot days this summer and now we are headed into fall. We have not heard from him. I am sending a more detailed accout of what we have been through and pictures of what was supposed to be a new roof and ceiling. Thank you for any help you could give us. We have been very patient to this point. We have pd two thirds of the contracted ammount and would like it back to hire someone else. ****** * *******

To whom it may concern. Yes I did do a flat roof And re-did the ceiling belowe it. The flat roof was A rubberized roof that Took A glue application between fiberboard And the rubberized roofing. The glue did not adheere As expected And apparently caused gases to form between the fiberboard And rubberized roofing that in turn made bubbles in the roofing material. But the roof had no leakes until he hired a different contractor to do the main house roof that had to be stripped And All the debris came down onto the flat rood that I did. Then during the winter months I was informed There was A leak in the roof that I did which in turn ruined the ceiling underneath it that I also die. So I stopped by to assess situation. There is A main drain in the center of the roof that Apparently does not have the Ability to stay thawed during the winter months because it was buried under several inches of ice when I arrived. Knowing what Kind of damage I could have caused to the roof And or the drain by trying to break the Ice Away I proceeded on opening the ceiling below to see if I could tell if it was the drain that was leaking. After opening the damaged ceiling I noticed that water did not appear to be coming from the drain but actually following the underneath pitch of the roof to the drain pipe and running down to the first elbow then dripping onto the ceiling. So I went back outside and carefully broke away the ice around the drain to discover that the rubberized membrane had been punctured from what appeared to be a stripping shovel that I am all too familiar with which in turn caused the leak in the roof. i took a picture on my phone of the holes in the roof and text it to *** which in turn he decided to come up on the roof because he had a older phone and the photos were not clear. I showed him the holes in the roof that were causing the issue and told him my thoughts on it. At that point he should hav enotifed the other contractor and made him aware of it and go this thoughts on the situation. But after speaking with *** about it I had the impression he still felt that it was my situation to deal with and I proceeded on patchin gthe roof to get through the following inter and spring months to see if it took care of the problem. As far as the rubberized membrane is concerned I was informed by the local lumber yard that I purchased it from it was not being manufactured due to Covid outbreak and the lack of help thereafter. I also feel that the leak in the roof was not caused by my work or the fact that the roof had bubbles in it so in turn do not feel that it was my responsibility to replace the ceiling or reimburse the homeowner for the ceiling.

Thank you *****, I did send a response on why this should not be closed, I'm not sure where it went.  We are not young people and sometimes we have a hard time navagating things on the computer. We appreciate you reaching out again.  We do not understand Mr. A********* reason for not replacing the faulty roof, (he said he could no longer get the material due to covid)  Our thought is why not get a different material?  I hope no one ever treats his parents this way.  I have numerous texts from him saying he would take care of this right up till Christmas of 2021.  We need to get the ceiling closed up before winter.  We have tried to be so patient.  Our contractor for the main roof was contacted by us to let him know he is being blamed for the leak, he assured us once again that he made sure the debres never landed on the flat roof, he laid plywood and tarps and had a large dumpster on the side to throw the debris in.   We would like for Mr. ********* to man up and do the right thing.  Thank you again *** and *****

This will be my last response for this complaint. Like I said in the first response I made the homeowners aware of the holes in the roof that I patched. I am not blaming the other contractor for this all I said was he should have been made aware of it in order to determine the situation. I see Mrs ******* made a comment about her saying I would blame the other contractor. Of course she would think that because like I said I made the homeowners aware of the holes in the roof. I was unaware that the other contractor was contacted by the homeowners and has a different view on how the leak occurred. I have contacted him personally and we'll discuss why our views are different from one another.

      sincerely Kenneth A********
