SWORE IT WAS THOROUGHLY LOOKED OVER AND WOULD PASS INSPECTION, THE MECHANIC QUOTED $1,500 TO GET EVERYTHING FIXED FOR AN INSPECTION STICKER. I'll include a picture of the receipt from the mechanic who looked it over for an inspection sticker and from the transmission mechanic. We drove 2.5 hours from Maine, Could only test drive in his storage unit parking lot, it was echoing and not enough space to get a proper feel. Said he had breaks and wheel bearings done on the front, that it was thoroughly looked over by his mechanic but he's now saying he drove it once, knew very little about the vehicle and that we bought it right after he had picked it up so I don't know. I suspect he did know a lot about the car the ad was up for a bit and the mechanic who looked it over for inspection said the brakes and wheel bearings had been done recently. Realized on the way home that it has trouble shifting when you got around 40mph, texted him and he said the mechanic said there was a little play in the driveshaft (something he NEVER disclosed before we bought it) but never had an issue with shifting or the reverse. Ad said ZERO RUST yet when we got home and took a closer look there was rust all along the bottom hatch that he had covered with flex seal. Obviously I didn't see him do it but he had a table with tools and cleaning products in his office and on that table was a bottle of flex seal so it's obvious he covered up the rust. He also said he had no doubt it would pass inspection. Get home and go to back into my parking spot and it wouldn't go into reverse, messaged him immediately and for the last 7 weeks it's been nothing but a run around! Was being driven sparingly (borrowed or got rides)while we waited to get this fixed bc we had no other choice. A few weeks ago it started making a clunking and it turned out we'll need $1,500 for an inspection plus $662 to fix the transmission issue. We also paid $5800 receipt says $3500 paid cash, tax fraud?Customer response

I just wanted to reach out, I couldn't figure out how to update on the website but the owner of Four Star Auto did finally reach out, we came to an agreement. I'm not over thrilled but we got most of our money back which is better than nothing.
We probably could of pushed to get a full refund because he was REALLY concerned that we reported him already to the IRS for tax fraud on his cash transaction's, but we just wanted to get it over and done with and move on.I'm pretty sure he got a voicemail or something from you guys, and I'm almost positive that was the reason he reached out. He saw that it wasn't empty threats so even though it says you guys didn't make contact he found out about my complaint somehow so thank you!Have a great day******* * ******* ****Hi ******,Thank you for notifying us.
