I Rented a storage unit through Shawmut self storage located at 928 central st in Franklin NH, I allowed a friend of mine that has been in my life for 10 years to put some items into the unit without my knowledge the women name unknown as she would not tell me her name allowed my friend to cut my lock off and change it all on camera without my knowledge. when I realized this happened I changed the lock went into the office e on sight and reported it as well as I contacted the Franklin NH police department and filed a report. (report number **********) since that report which was summited on March 7th 2023 the same day I noticed the lock change the women at the Shawmut self storage and there district manger Laurie Barlow have refused to allow me into my unit even if I was paid in full, they refused to give me my b balance when asked and they verbally abused me several times by swearing at me and threatening me. I was threatened on March 27th2023 that if I did not remove all my property from within the uint that they were going to allow this girl who changed my lock into my unit without me there. I was told that I am not ****ing getting my belongings if I was not there when I stated I can't be there today as I have a doctors appointment outside of town they both said to ****ing bad we don't ****ing care what you have going on we are done with you ******** and your ****ing problems that we don't run pn your ****ing time. As of Friday March 24th 2023 I was told that my unit was 36 days past due and today March 27th I was told my unit is now over 45 days past due sho its no longer my unit and they can do whatever the **** they want and let whoever they want into the unit and that I can **** myself. I endured this horrible verbal abuse for 10-15 minutes while my mother heard it all and then I called the police and was literally balling my eyes out. as a customer who was treated so horribly and abused to the point of tears I feel the storage unit should have to pay me back for the 3 months of payment plus suffering through that amount of stress.Initial Complaint

With less 4 weeks notice was informed that monthly rental on self storage unit was increased by $70—from $123/per month to $193/per month—A 56% increase. Last increase in rent was more than a year and half ago and cost only went from $120 to $123. I have auto paid every month on time. The owner has not made any improvements or changes to the property that would warrant such and extraordinary increase in rent especially in the current economic downturn. I am on a fixed income and cannot pay another $70 each month. Trying to locate another, more cost effective, unit and schedule movers in less than 3 weeks is an impossibility. The business owner refuses to work with timeline or grant any extension or "grace period".
